Why has my email stopped syncing with my Pixel 2 phone?

At about noon on Sunday, I stopped receiving emails on my Pixel 2 phone running Android 11.  This is a comcast.net email.  I have another comcast.net email that is working properly, as well as 2 Gmail accounts that are working as they should.  So far I have:  shut down and rebooted the phone; soft reset; deleted the cache, and deleted and reinstalled the account.  That last item -- deleting and reinstalling the account -- restored the inbox to the correct state at the time of the reinstall, but no further emails were received.  In addition, I lost access to my email folders after the reinstall -- the folders are there but they are empty.  This is my primary email account and I rely on my phone for emails for days at a time, so this situation is intolerable.  How do I fix this?

Just for a sanity check, if you log into xfinity.com and access the account via webmail with a browser, is your email there?   If it isn't, they can restore it for you.  Sometimes that's a migration or a mail server instance crash.

While you are in there, go into settings, and make sure there are no "auto forwards" sending your mail somewhere else.  If you see that, change your password immediately.

@flatlander3 Yes, I can access my email via webmail -- that's how I'm functioning now.  There's no auto-forwards in settings, but I did get a hint while browsing the settings -- one of them refers to POP settings for other apps, and I've always set it up as a personal IMAP account.  I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try POP.  Thanks for the response.

@donnaamico  Odd.  It ought to work.  In web mail, there's another setting.  "Allow 3rd party client email access".  Sometimes that one gets stuck even if the box  is checked.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have @XfinityCSAEmail take a look at your account.  They're pretty good, have access to logs and can see what's going on.  Maybe this post can help flag them.

Having the same problem. How do we advance this to a level 2 tech?

@Patsdeere forgot to mention, mines a moto Z4, so not a specific phone model.

And to add a twist, my out going works just fine. It's only the incoming that has issues.

My husband and I are having the same issue on Samsung phones. Our phone service is VZ. We have contacted both Comcast and VZ. Deleted accounts, storage etc. Worked briefly then reverts back to no sync. Started on Aug 2.

I use Outlook on my Pixel 4a, and it works fine with Comcast mail. Just did a test.

To resolve both our accounts, we went into the GMAIL app we are using, cleared cashe.  Then we deleted our comcast accounts, readded them and both started working. Lets hope it continues!

@user_1404ea it doesn't solve the issue. Refreshes but nothing after that point in time

We were asked to do that as well. It worked for several hours yesterday then stopped late afternoon.

Have had the same problem. Google Pixel with Gmail app. Xfinity imap email within Gmail randomly stopped working. Had to delete the account and even restart the app. Once done, I added the account again. The account broke 1 day later.

We don't  know if it's Xfinity or Gmail.

Same issue! Any permanent solution identified?

Been using gmail on various android mobiles for years and have never had this issue either pop or imap.

I had cleared storage and it started working for a short period. It does not last. Outgoing mail sends.

I have the same issue since yesterday.  20 year old Comcast email not syncing Gmail via iMap.  Deleted account, readded brought it up to date but nothing after.  Logging on to Xfinity on web, email is working, all settings correct.  Restarting didn't do anything.  Att firstnet pixel 6

Hello! Have you tried updating your Gmail app via the instructions provided below by XfinityDaveL? That seems to be fixing the issue for those who have tried.

Play Store says Gmail was updated a few days ago. That is probably the problem. I am using Outlook with no problems. You can even try K-9 mail if you want something genuinely free and open source.

Same issue here.  The last day that it synced was August 4.  I can send emails from the account using Gmail app, but can't receive anything.
