Why has my email stopped syncing with my Pixel 2 phone?
At about noon on Sunday, I stopped receiving emails on my Pixel 2 phone running Android 11. This is a comcast.net email. I have another comcast.net email that is working properly, as well as 2 Gmail accounts that are working as they should. So far I have: shut down and rebooted the phone; soft reset; deleted the cache, and deleted and reinstalled the account. That last item -- deleting and reinstalling the account -- restored the inbox to the correct state at the time of the reinstall, but no further emails were received. In addition, I lost access to my email folders after the reinstall -- the folders are there but they are empty. This is my primary email account and I rely on my phone for emails for days at a time, so this situation is intolerable. How do I fix this?

It appears the common denominators are comcast and gmail. Question is, who can fix this? Comcast told me that after they checked the box on their side for 3rd party access on our accounts ( apparently not the same box we can see and check ourselves) that if it didn't work we needed to go to the 3rd party or phone manufacturer. Not helpful. It doesn't appear it's the phones or networks. Just comcast and gmail.

Also, Android says that it updated Gmail on my phone 4 days ago, so August 2nd. So it worked for about 2 days after the update, thought most of my August 3rd messages don't have any message content, just the sender and the subject.

Same problem for me on Pixel 7 with AT$T service using the stock Android Mail app. Started Friday morning. I noticed that I hadn't received any new messages at my Comcast account but my Gmail account sends/receives fine. I can SEND emails from the Comcast account but nothing is received. I tried deleting the Comcast (IMAPP) account and "adding" back. It worked! I was happy..... but quickly realized that the "fix" didn't last. I've deleted and added the Comcast account several times. Same result, I get a snapshot of the current folders but nothing new arrives.
And simply trying to delete/re-enter the incoming server password does not fix this. Only a full account delete/re-enter works.
And it has nothing to do with connection via Wifi vs Mobile Carrier. I tried on WiFi connected to Xfinity, WiFI connected to Spectrum, "Free WiFi" at JFK and "Free Wifi" at SFO. All within the last 36 hours. No difference. It doesn't work.
If I "GMailafy" the comcast account (ie add it to my gmail account so that messages from both account appear in my "GMail" inbox) all messages get received. But I'd prefer to maintain two separate inboxes thank you.
Last note: I can access my Comcast email just fine from my Windows Laptop running Outlook so its (probably) not a Comcast... (aka Xfinity) incoming server issue. As others have said this appears to be a Goog/Android Mail app issue.
Please fix.

People have registered the issue on the Google forum. Supposedly it has been escalated to their tech team. They did request that users provide info via the feedback option - device, Gmail app version, phone version, domain name of imap account. Hopefully someone can fix this as the number of users affected keeps growing.

Exact same issue for me...
Deleted and re-installed the comcast.net account on my Google Pixel phone and email worked for one day. As of yesterday, it's stopped working again

And again, this is a bug with the Gmail or basic Android mail app. I have no problems with Outlook, and as I am 'subscribed' to this thread, am getting email whenever someone posts here, so I know it works.

Same issue for me also with Pixel 4a. Started on Aug 4. I can send email but not receiving any.
I also removed the account and added back in -- it worked/synced for one day but now back to not receiving emails to my phone.

Good news if there is a solution. When issues like this arise I believe it is in the best interest of senior technical staff at both Gmail and Comcast to communicate and vigorously work jointly to resolve the issue asap. Both firm's customers are being inconvenienced by this issue.

Just updated gmail and it's working again. Previously, no comcast email would come through on my phone at all UNLESS I searched my inbox for a specific address or keyword knowing I had an email from them (by checking my computer or comcast through chrome) - it would show up in the search and then would be visible in my inbox. But only emails I specifically searched for would populate in my inbox after the fact, nothing else. Anyway - it's working again so update gmail and hopefully that fixes it for you, too. Seems like they patched whatever the bug was.

It looks like gmail issued a new update yesterday which has resolved the problem for at least one user.
