where to for how the xfinity email filters work? Redirect? Then what?

Hello,

On this page:

https://www.xfinity.com/xfinityassistant/

I entered this question:

what does redirect do?

and I got this answer:

I can tell you about some special discounts available to Xfinity customers.

If you're looking for info on the federal government's Affordable Connectivity Program, select the button below

The information found here:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/spam-filters-and-email-blocking-new-experience

Is incomplete. For example, there is no forward but there is a redirect. What happens after I redirect?

Is there a page different than above that explains xfinity's filters?

Thx.

There really should be, shouldn't there? But no, that would cost them a few pennies. Open-Xchange, the company that wrote the webmail system, has a sometimes useful page at https://documentation.open-xchange.com/components/middleware/http/7.10.6/index.html#mail-filter.

I posted an example of a filter that uses "Redirect" recently at https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/send-mail-to-two-emails/64fe51bece4a2616f479fe4a?commentId=64fe7374ce4a2616f47a004e.

Hope this helps!

Thank you BruceW.

Yes, I can see how Xfinity's filters directions appear to be a paired down version of what is available on open-xchange.com's Web page.

Maybe open-xchange.com can provide some examples.

In any email program I've worked with, the basic difference between a forward and a redirect is that when you forward an email to someone, they can look at the header and see who did the forwarding.  If they use redirect the recipient can't see that information.  It just looks like it came to them straight from the original sender.

Thank you Latoque.

Set up a couple of filters to determine precedence of two different actions. I wish Xfinity made examples available.
