Unable to Access Comcast Email Accounts using Outlook 365

This problem just started for me on 12/28/23.  Outlook 365 keeps asking for server authentication and password information in order to log in and access the account.  However, when using Outlook 365 I can send outbound emails from Comcast Email accounts.  I have referred to all the Xfinity Support documents and the settings for IMAP are set in my Outlook according to these documents.  What has changed?  I also have the correct setting checked in the Xfinity web access/email client to these two email accounts.  Please review and help me get this resolved.

For me this same situation was easy solved: 1. sign in to your xfinity connect mail account 2. Go to settings (cog wheel on top right) and click on: Email Settings 3. Click Security 4. Click the square that says: Third Party Security Setting. Done

@user_zheiyd Already checked. Can't be that.

@user_zheiyd already did that so what I did was

1 - Clicked the square again.  Exited out

2 - Changed password again

3 - went back to where you said and clicked on the Third Party Security Setting again..

Issue resolved for me..  I guess the setting just didn't take my previous attempts.  But it's working again now.  Thank you.

We had spent many hours trying to solve this recurring issue with our Android/IMAP Outlook email on and off months before the forced password change. I'm done reinstalling Outlook and all the rest several times. Outlook email works, but then it doesn't. Then it works again without trying to convince it to work by resubmitting the IMAP settings/password. We get our email to work; then it doesn't, then it does, then it doesn't, even when we make no changes. My husband's email started working again yesterday, while mine stopped this morning. Comcast/Xfinity has sucked many hours of my time yet makes no public pronouncements nor sends a broadcast message/or by mail about what is happening and what can be done. Where is the FTC on this? Now, I can't log into my account, again, after changing my password for that a few times. I use a paid password saver. Calling Comcast gets me to a recording that insists it reset my modem. Why no other option? So, Comcast, don't ask me to send a DM as I cannot even log in - again. [Edited: "Language"]

I just started having this issue today.  Same thing.  Can't connect to server for any of my Comcast email accounts with Outlook 365.  Third party box checked.  All server settings correct.

My problem seemed to be related to a VPN issue and possibly Thunderbird being compromised. Changing the password actually is what got it working again though there was def a problem with the VPN. I do not recommend using 3rd party email apps anymore at all. Too risky. Checking my mail on the website from now on. It's inconvenient, but it's a lot safer.

Thank you XfinityDaveL for helping me with my issue.

I was forced to change my password. Now I can't connect to Outlook on my mobile phone.

I see that many other have had the same issue.
When I try to open Outlook on my Android phone I am directed to the IMAP configuration page.
I followed the directions on the configuration settings, and I continue to get an incorrect password message and can go no further.

This problem only started after the breach issue.

I have uninstalled and installed the application multiple times and have spent countless hours trying to remedy the situation.

The 'Allow third party' is checked on the Outlook application.

I am using Advanced Settings on my phone.

The Incoming Mail Server IMAP configuration is set on the posted number indicated on instructions.  imap.comcast.net  port 993

Security type SSL/LS

My comcast.net email address is being used as the IMAP User Name.

IMAP Password - same password that was working earlier this week.

The Outgoing Mail Server Port number is set on the posted number on the instructions.  smtps.comcast.net  port 465
Security type SSL/LS

My comcast.net email address is being used as the SMTP User Name.

SMTP Password - same as IMAP password.

I can access the Outlook application directly on my PC.

I have spent well over 16 hours trying to resolve this issue.

For some reason my comcast.net email accounts are no longer accessible via outlook.   I tried changing the password with no success.  The password is correct as I'm able to access email through the web.  Please advise.

In addition to all the other "solutions", it seems Comcast, in all its wisdom, blocks complete legitimate IP networks or subnets from accessing their servers.  Understood, somewhat, given the breach, an the fact I live in a foreign country.  I cannot connect to IMAP when I'm on the fiber infrastructure.  But I disconnect from WIFI/fiber, and use the cell service, I have no problems connecting.

I have the same problem and can't get any assistance to get this resolved. How do you contact someone at Comcast that knows what to do to fix this?
