strange message when I send an email

For the past two weeks, each time I send an email, the following message appears: "Add “connect.xfinity.com” as an application for mailto links?" followed by a box that I am to click. What is this message about? How can I stop it from appearing? I don't want to click on something I don't understand.

If you are asking about Comcast's webmail ("...connect.xfinity.com..."), check the setting for "Ask for mailto link registration" at (gear icon) / Email Settings / Mail / Behavior. Clearing the checkbox should prevent the "mailto" message from appearing.

The message is innocent and legitimate. "Mailto" links appear in webpages that invite you to send an email. If you agreed to the message you are seeing, you'd be saying "When I click on a 'mailto' email link, I want to use Comcast's webmail to write and send the message". See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mailto for more information.

"Mailto" links are much less common than they were a decade or so ago.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. I understand that in this day and age we can never be too careful! Have you already attempted the steps outlined by BruceW? If so are you still receiving that message?
