Spam email

Last night I got hit with 376 spam emails...this morning 500 more.  I did not have the spam filter on as it never worked, now I do and we'll see what happens.  Did this happen to anyone else?  Argh.

Just checked my email and only had 5 spam messages...none of which were caught by the xfinity spam.

@Reenler

Did you mark them as spam?  Every message that is spam that doesn't make it to the spam filter should be marked as spam, even if you have to do it numerous times, so that Comcast's filters can learn about it.

No, I was so shocked I just deleted.  I will do that in the future.  I wish we could do the same in Outlook...I prefer using that to logging in to Xfinity.  Thanks for the reminder.

Hi there @Reenler!  Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to Comcast here in out Forums Community!  We are so glad to hear from you.  Speaking as someone who uses their personal email for so much, I fully understand how annoying it can be to be greeted with so much SPAM in your inbox.  It used to drive me up a wall!  But like our expert has pointed out, you can always mark emails that have not been flagged as SPAM.  Companies are getting more and more creative with ways of trying to get past filters.  As soon as you flag them, it makes it easier for us to adjust to ensure this does not become a regular occurrence.

How often would you say you are receiving this many SPAM emails in your inbox?

Sorry just saw this...this is the first time I have gotten this many.  Usually I just get one every day or so.  Since I started marking them spam on the xfinity website, and marking them junk mail and blocking them in Outlook it hasn't happened again.

Thank you for the update @Reenler, we are glad to hear that you are no longer receiving an excessive amount of spam messages. Seeing that many spam messages at once would be daunting, but using your spam/junk filters is always a great way to reduce these types of unwanted emails. We also want to thank you for reaching out to the Community Forum for support with your issue. Never hesitate to create another public post for any of your future account and service needs!

I could always rely on Comcast's filters to keep spam out of my Comcast emails.  However, since mid October 2021, I've been receiving several a day.  I had not changed any settings.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  I am in Connecticut.

Hey there @gardendream, thank you for joining us here on the Xfinity Support Forums. This is a bit of an older thread, and we haven't heard back from the other posters in some time. I definitely feel your pain on the spam emails--even with my other email clients, many spam emails seem to be coming through. We are continuously updating our spam and malware filters, especially given the rise in phishing emails over the last year or so.

In the meantime, you can mark emails you find as spam so they're filtered out, and block certain email addresses as well. Here is how you Mark Emails as Spam and here is how you can Block and Filter Unwanted Emails.

We also have an Alerts website which shows current threats, and provides information where to report them, if you come across them.
