SMTP server
I have a MacBook and an iPhone and neither will let me send an emaiI from my Comcast Email address. I can receive emails just fine. All the SMTP settings seem fine. What else can I do?

I realize this thread is 4 months old, but it has the correct Topic, so I'm trying it to see if it triggers any useful replies.
Ran into this same problem today, June 26, 2026, and finally got it resolved. I got an unexpected email from a legitimate Xfinity account with subject "Your password is all set." That's a strange subject line, and the subsequent words were not capitalized. Anyway, the email said I had successfully reset my password, followed by a "Sign in to your account" button. Simultaneously I was unable to send or receive email on my iPhone/Mail and Mac/Outlook, so I was quite concerned.
MalwareBytes Scam Guard did not find anything suspicious about the From or the linked URL in the email, but said that anything can be spoofed. So, I went to the Xfinity web portal to sign in (as recommended) and change my password. Oddly, it put me through the steps to change my password (it said something about 'we do this to protect you') -- i.e. sending a text to my phone -- and I successfully changed my password.
Question 1: How could someone have changed my password without me getting a phone alert?
I tested WebMail and I was able to send and receive emails.
After putting the new password in my Mac/Outlook and iPhone, I was able to RECEIVE emails on both devices (via POP server, as always). However, I was unable to SEND emails on either device (via SMTP server, Port 465 , as always). I searched for solutions online. I made sure "allow third party applications to send email on this account" was On. In fact, I turned it Off, and back On. This did not fix the problem. Next, I went into the SMTP advanced settings on both Mac/Outlook and iPhone/Mail and change my username from <my_email> to <my_email@comcast.net>. I have never had to do this. This did not work right away, but I restarted my iPhone and iPhone/Mail, and restarted my Mac/Outlook, and both devices began to send emails correctly.
Question 2: Did Comcast/Xfinity recently (today!) change their SMTP authentication requirements?]
By the way, my wife's iPhone and Outlook are working fine, as always, with no changes. But, she did not change her Xfinity password today. So ...
Question 3: Does changing your Xfinity password trigger new SMTP authentication requirements?
