SMTP Server won't connect

I use Thunderbird for email access. Today it stopped sending emails, with the following message:

Sending of the message failed.
The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) Comcast failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

I went to the Xfinity webmail site and it required me to change my password. Did that, changed it in Thunderbird, still same failure.

 Webmail interface works just fine.

Hello, @user_dwp6fz how are you? Thanks for your post and for testing Comcast webmail. It seems like after troubleshooting and resetting your password that webmail is not the issue. The next best step to take is to check your settings and potentially set up the email again in Thunderbird. Resetting your device and making sure your mail client has the newest updates is also recommended. Here is a link that will confirm settings and how to configure Thunderbird.
