Setting up Outlook 2021

I am using Outlook as my email client. I recently upgraded from Office 2019 to Office 2021.

I'm receiving emails via the Xfinity email portal, but not in Outlook. My old (prior) folder structure appears and emails within those folders are available, but I am not receiving any inbound emails. I've tried various Outlook account settings, including changing port numbers, etc. but to no avail.  I've also check-boxed the option to allow external services/apps to access my Xfinity account. I appreciate your help!

There was another one here:  https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/pop-3-email-down-for-days/6318b99348c60d55e604c473

The settings were fine on his stuff.  He was using pop3 not imap but it didn't matter, it just stopped working.  His solution?  Yank the power cord on his gateway and remove the battery for VoiP.  He was using Xfinity for phone too.  Then, magically......it worked all the sudden.  You didn't say what you were using for a gateway, and Xfinity is buggy.

Instead of the mail server in the thread I posted, use imap.comcast.net port 993 (if you want imap instead of pop3).  Make sure you are using SSL.

Worth a try and it's quick.

@flatlander3 Thanks flatlander3, I tried this solution to no avail. I appreciate you chiming in though as sometimes the easiest solutions are the ones that aren't the most obvious. I still can't access my email, but I'll have to find another solution.  Enjoy your day!

Hi @user_8f8cf5, Thanks for reaching out to our community with your email concerns. I have a link with goes over how to set up your Xfinity email account to with an email program (https://comca.st/3DbbVp1) I would recommend using the newest options for outlook and see if that helps with connect the two.  Let me know if this helps.

@XfinityKei Hi Kei! This didn't work. I tried the most recent Outlook version listed (2016) with no success. Isn't there a 'live' rep that can help with this? Outlook is the core of my workflow systems and I can't receive email via Outlook. It is totally compromising my ability to work effectively. Thanks, Steve

That is not good. Let's try a few other steps together @user_8f8cf5.

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address?

Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

See https://comca.st/3KQF8q9r for an example.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Did you ever find a solution?  I have the same issue, nothing seems to work.  I"ve been on the Xfinity forum, they don't go up to Outlook 2021.  Any insight would be appreciated

@user_5b9a3f

Hi, I posted a reply outside of the community portal, but just in case....

No, I haven't found a solution. Tried a bunch of account setting adjustments in Outlook 2021, but to no avail. Right now I'm getting my primary emails via Xfinity client which is not even a good short-term solution. I need to find a resource that can evaluate my Outlook/Xfinity email clients and see if there is something I'm missing.

If you ever find a solution, please keep me in the loop. I'd appreciate it...and I'll do the same for you if I ultimately obtain a fix for this.

Thanks,

Steve

It's kind of Astounding to me that when you go onto their help section they tell you how to setup Outlook all the way up to 2016.  Seriously This is the largest internet provider in the country and they are 5 years behind?  If I find a solution I will keep you in the loop.  Frustrating to be sure.

Curt, appreciate this! I'll do the same. I'm usually pretty good with tech but this Outlook client has me stumped (so far). I'm all for "Community" support but trying to get someone on the phone who can do tech support is brutal.

It seems the link was not updated in all locations. We will get that fixed, the setup interface is basically the same in the recent versions of office.
