Such messages are almost always phishing/fraud. "Click here or lose your email" is a scammer classic. Comcast/Xfinity does not ask us to "update" our email accounts. This message is most likely an attempt to steal your login and financial information.

If you check your email with Comcast's Xfinity Connect webmail (https://connect.xfinity.com/), look for the XFINITY Verified Email logo next to any message that claims to be from Comcast/Xfinity. Note that anyone can insert an XFINITY Verified image in the body of an email, so it's important to note not only the presence of that image, but that it is in the correct locations:

  • proceeding the email subject line in the list of emails
  • above the subject line when the email is opened.

See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email for examples of valid logo placement. A logo in the body of the email does not count.

Unfortunately, AFAIK the logo is not present when you view one of their messages in an email app or program. It's only visible when you use their web email site.

Samples of recent phishing messages can be found at https://spa.xfinity.com/alerts under "Top Phishing Scams".

To report a scam email to Comcast, follow the "How do I report ..." links on https://spa.xfinity.com/help/email-abuse?faq=spam-email.

Forgot to add they are using special characters for the X, to try and get past SPAM filters. That is yet another giveaway. And why is the From address hidden?

user_f16631 Hi there!

Thanks for checking in with us—that email definitely raises some red flags, and it’s smart that you paused before clicking anything. Based on the details you shared, this is a phishing attempt and not a legitimate message from Xfinity.

There are a few clear signs that give it away:

  • The sender’s name and email look suspicious and misspelled (like “メfinity” instead of “Xfinity”).

  • It uses odd grammar and formatting (like “CLlCK AND UPDATE PORTAL NOW.” with a capital "L" instead of an "I").

  • It asks you to take urgent action through a button, which is a common phishing tactic.

  • The footer looks like it’s trying to mimic a real Comcast message but is full of inconsistencies.

So please don’t click on anything in that email. If you already did, definitely run a scan on your device and update your email password just to be safe.

Now, about your email access on your phone—that might be a totally separate issue. Try these quick steps to get back in:

  1. Remove the email account from your phone’s email app.

  2. Restart your phone.

  3. Re-add the email account using the correct settings for Xfinity email (IMAP settings can be found here).

If you're still having trouble, you can always use the Xfinity Connect webmail on your browser at connect.xfinity.com, or reach out to our support team here on the forum.

We’ve got your back—thanks again for staying vigilant! Let us know if you need help with anything else.
