Not Good -> Comcast.net Email is Moving to Yahoo!

First the Comcast Email app was done away with. Then Xfinity got rid of the remote App. Now they are not even going to host and operate their own email service as it's being handed over to Yahoo!, a company that has heavily censored peoples' comments on their articles starting during Covid/Floyd riots and continues to do so to this day.

Because many, if not most, use a different email host.  For example:  many use Gmail.  That way your email is agnostic and you do not have to log in to your xfinity account. to check your email.

Need to send a message to xfinity about this [Edited: "Language"] decision by leaving them altogether.
Everyone who ends up on yahoo mail says it is worse than the AOL debacle back in the 90's.
It takes days or weeks to get into their email, and between their two services (internet provider and yahoo) they play the blame game and never actually FIX anything!@

Who is "everyone"?  I don't have a problem.  And I never had any problems with AOL, either.

Because no one knows. I guess this explains why Comcast was booed rather loudly at 4th July Philly game. They're not liked at all. To service so many of us and be a lousy company...well, Comcast can't even guarantee email now.smh

Hi there @user_sh99a2.  As we prepare to sunset the Xfinity Email platform, we’ve chosen to partner with Yahoo Mail to provide active Comcast.net email users continued access to their email accounts and the ability to keep their current email address along with an improved email experience.

We believe Yahoo Mail provides the ultimate modern email platform, with AI-driven tools to streamline your inbox management, advanced email protection, smart and intuitive calendar features, and a mobile app so you can stay connected on the go.

This move does not impact any paid services or other customer relationships existing customers may have with Xfinity or Comcast; Xfinity services will continue to remain subject to Comcast terms of service and privacy policy applicable to those services.

We appreciate your comment with feedback JimmyG1. This partnership aims to provide active comcast.net email users with continued access to their email accounts while enhancing their experience with Yahoo's modern email features, including AI-driven tools, advanced email protection, and improved mobile access. The transition will also not affect any other Xfinity services 👍

The phrase "AI" is overused. It's basically a help feature that is shoved in your face non-stop.

Not as bad as the Ads popping up, there is a $5 a month fee to get rid of these, so now will pay $60 a year Thx Comcast

@XfinitySeth

really?? enhancing the user experience???  You got to be kidding.  Remember the old saying, less is more?  Email page busy as [Edited: Language] and ads galore, every 6-8 emails and to have to pay $5.00 month to subscribe to "no Ads"  Yahoo is garbage.  No longer is mailboxes simple: Inbox, Sent, Spam, & Trash.  Somes in mgmt. should be fired.

Good Morning, @PAULM20! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums. I do apologize about the experience with the Ad's and the cost per month to remove them. That fee would be associated with Yahoo directly, and I will ensure to share the feedback on our end regarding the transition to yahoo.com email.

Your comcast emails will stay as @comcast.net and your Yahoo! Mail will stay as @yahoo.com.  You won't have a problem there.

How long before a person will know when the merge for their account will happen. Received the email about important change on August 20th; I was already using Yahoo for comcast (added mailbox, but now the mailbox is gone and I can't see my comcast email in Yahoo anymore - I really need this fixed right away) - why can't we just add another email box to the Yahoo to keep working?

In other words, you were forwarding your comcast.net email to Yahoo, which isn't the same as migrating your comcast.net email to Yahoo.  When you migrate you will keep your @comcast.net email address and you will log in to Yahoo to check that email - no forwarding.

The transition is taking place slowly, until June of 2026, so there is no real way to know when your migration will take place.  You said you received an email August 20th about "an important change" but was it from an official Comcast email?  That email, when viewed in webmail, would have the official Xfinity verified logo next to it, so if that email didn't have that, it was probably a phishing email.

Here is information regarding the transition to Yahoo! Mail:

Yahoo is only one very small step above AOL as being totally worthless.  I pay Comcast close to $4,000/yr and I don't get quality service from them.  This may be the nail in the coffin for me.  Time to suggest what Comcast can do with their services and find myself a new provider.

Some updated Q&As:

Why was I invited to upgrade my comcast.net email account to Yahoo Mail?
We’ve chosen to partner with Yahoo Mail to provide customers with a comcast.net email the ability to upgrade their email account to Yahoo Mail for a better email experience at no extra cost. If you choose to upgrade to Yahoo Mail, your email address, messages, folders and contacts will stay the same. Yahoo Mail provides a ton of great features, including enhanced security, smart and intuitive calendar features, AI-driven tools to streamline your inbox management, and a mobile app so you can stay connected on the go. The upgrade to Yahoo Mail does not impact any paid services customers may have with Xfinity.

Do I have to upgrade my comcast.net email account to Yahoo Mail?
No, this is an upgrade we are offering customers at no cost so they can access their email on a better platform with enhanced security, more features, and a mobile app for easy access on the go. However, if you do not upgrade, eventually you will lose access to your comcast.net email account.

So it's not really a choice to upgrade, but rather it is mandatory if you want to keep your Comcast email.
