New Problem - Thunderbird Not Able to Send Email on One Account - Get Login to server smtp.comcast.net with username Error

I am running Windows 10 and Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client. I have multiple comcast.net email addresses set up and all have been working fine. Now all of a sudden I am unable to send emails from one of my accounts, always getting the error message - Login to server smtp.comcast.net with username [Edited: "Personal Information"] failed.

I have not changed my comcast email password, and even went into both my comcast email account settings for that id ([Edited: "Personal Information"]) as well as the account settings in Thunderbird - all are set to the same password.

Can you help? I need to send an urgent email out from that email account. Thank you in advance for your help or direction.

Best regards,

David [Edited: "Personal Information"]

Hi there! We recommend deleting the account from Thunderbird and re-adding it!

To set up your new Comcast email account using IMAP, follow these steps:

  1. Open your email client (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird).
  2. Navigate to the option to add a new account.
  3. Enter your nameComcast email address (e.g., username@comcast.net), and password.
  4. Choose IMAP as the account type.
  5. Configure the incoming mail server with:
    • Server Name: imap.comcast.net
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL/TLS
    • Username: Your Comcast email address
    • Password: Your Comcast email password
  6. Configure the outgoing mail server with:
    • Server Name: smtp.comcast.net
    • Port: 587
    • Security: STARTTLS or SSL/TLS
    • Authentication: Yes, require authentication
    • Username: Your Comcast email address
    • Password: Your Comcast email password
  7. Verify the settings and complete the setup process.

Didn't work for me. I can receive but not send. When I try it sends me to comcast sign-in page (even though my password was entered when I set up the account and it pulled in all my messages), and then it says, "You don't have permission to access "http://login.xfinity.com/login" on this server."

SSL/TLS and it defaulted to 465 for port....and it worked

Not for me. 465 is where the problem was. I changed it to 587 and it just tries to connect and then times out.
