MS Outlook will not sync with new Yahoo email - PLEASE switch me back

I am attempting to update outlook on my desktop with the new settings for yahoo, and everything I have tried fails with the same results. I have tried with creating the 3rd party password as is mentioned in one of the help pages, I have tried with the password i had to create for Yahoo, and I have tried with the password for xfinity. None of these will connect with outlook, and I now no longer have access to email.

The yahoo app I installed on my phone initially seemed as if it would work, but now, it keeps saying my phone is offline, when clearly it is not.

This switch to Yahoo is terrible, I need this switched back to xfinity, at least that was working with outlook on my dektop

Thanks for meeting us here in our community, @user_lsmjxv, about setting up your Yahoo email. Here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview is a helpful article you can use to make sure your setup is correct. Please review it and let me know if you're still having trouble.

I have followed all of the instructions on the page, however I am unable to get outlook on my desktop or on my phone to download email from the yahoo server. The yahoo app on my phone continually indicates that it is offline, despite the fact that my phone is not offline. The only way I am able to get email is through yahoo on a browser, and this is unacceptable. I need my email switched back to xfinity as this switch to yahoo is untenable.

@user_lsmjxv, unfortunately, there is no mechanism to roll back to XFINITY. Once the migration to Yahoo is complete, there is no way to undo it, I'm afraid. If you are continuing to have trouble with accessing the email post-transition, you can find support via Yahoo. Here : https://help.yahoo.com/kb/new-yahoo-mail/SLN36803.html and here : https://help.yahoo.com/kb/new-yahoo-mail. They should be able to assist with the app functionality and working with you to enable Outlook.

That is correct, @user_lsmjxv. We would not be able to roll back the transition. Once you are migrated to Yahoo, they would be the support contact point for any issues you are having. I would recommend checking out the links we provided and connecting with their support if needed.

Understood. Is it possible for me to create a new email address on xfinity, and it will remain on that platform rather than being created on yahoo?

Something that would have helped us, though, was if you had posted your server settings.

https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html gives the basic settings.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/getstarted/add-or-manage-a-yahoo-email-account-in-outlook this might help, too.

While I don't use Outlook, I do use Thunderbird.  Here are the settings I have in Thunderbird:

Server name:  imap.mail.yahoo.com

Port:  993

Username: your @comcast.net username

Connection Security:  SSL/TLS

Authentication method:  OAuth2

Outgoing

Server name:  smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port:  465

Connection Security:  SSL/TLS

Authentication:  OAuth2

Username:  xxxxx@comcast.net
