Methods to access Xfinity Email after service termination

There are various Forum, articles, and FAQ posts discussing access to Xfinity email after service termination.  I'm not sure how Comcast can continue to host someone's Xfinity email after service termination.  The business model details aside; retaining email service is extremely helpful to mitigate or delay all the issues with transferring existing emails followed by having to notify all contacts of the email change.  Assuming that Xfinity email hosting is actually retained after service termination, I have a specific question to get clarification on the viable email access methods that keep the hosted email account "alive" post Xfinity services.

One FAQ entitled Xfinity Email for former customers FAQs simply states:

"As a former Xfinity customer, you can still use your Xfinity Email address if you logged in to your email account using the Xfinity Email website in the 90 days prior to disconnecting your Xfinity service(s)."

I read this to mean the only viable method to access email is via the web app.  However, another article entitled Use Xfinity Email if you've disconnected your service provides the following additional details:

"Access your Xfinity Email after disconnect of service

After you disconnect your service, you can still access your email account through the methods below:

  • Xfinity Email (online — on your laptop or PC).
  • Third-party email applications."

So, does the underlined statement about "Third-party email applications" mean that Xfinity email can be accessed and kept alive via use of an email client like Microsoft Outlook?  I currently use Microsoft 365 Outlook configured to use the recommended IMAP method to access my Xfinity email.  Continuing to access my Xfinity email via an IMAP email client is way more convenient than using the web-based app.

Hopefully someone can provide clarification on this issue.  Thanks in advance for any information.

Hey there, @user_wgxsrx, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your email and keeping it active after disconnecting your account. You would be able to use a third party to access your email to ensure that your account remains active. Here is a link to our activity policy, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/email-activity. @XfinityJeniece

Thanks for link confirming that a third-party email client will effectively provide the keep-alive activity.  Somehow I missed this particular article in my search which explicitly states the options that were only speculated in various forum posts and related articles.

What can I use to access my email account for it to be considered active?
You must access your email account using the Xfinity Email website or utilizing a third-party client at least once every 24 months.

Additional behaviors and requirements in this article are also helpful with the management of my Xfinity email in the event of service termination.

Many Thanks!
