Mailbox Update Needed Old Version Shutting Down
I received an email at 4:30 AM today, and it claimed to be an official Comcast Email, but when scanning the "From" field, it listed a personal comcast.net email address, with the name disguised as "Dear Comcast Owner". I can't give out the actual email address for fear this post might be flagged as spam. Fortunately I didn't click on any links, as I'm not sure if this might give my machine a virus. Is this just another phishing email? Or is it legitimately from Xfinity Support? Though there is text wtin the email body, but my screenreader can't read pictures, the email didn't have a graphic with the words "Xfinity Logo" in the text body. Is this a legitimate email? Or is it just another phishing email?

Up until the beginning of January migration was mandatory. Out of the blue it suddenly became optional - for now. We don't know why the change was made; no explanation has been given.

As you suspect, it's some sort of scam.
Check email that claims to be from Comcast/Xfinity with their Connect webmail (https://connect.xfinity.com/) and look for the XFINITY Verified Email logo. See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email for examples of valid logo placement. A logo in the body of the email does not count.
Unfortunately, AFAIK the logo is not present when you view one of their messages in an email app or program. It's only visible when you use their web email site, and only for email sent to a Comcast.net address.
To report a scam email follow the instructions under the "How do I report phishing email sent to or from a Comcast.net email account?" heading on https://spa.xfinity.com/help/email-abuse?faq=spam-email.

So it's a possibility this could happen by Christmas time?

Will there be an "Accept" button that my JAWS (Job Access With Speech) screenreader recognizes, that when I press Enter, will automatically take me to Yahoo Mail?

XfinityBradM Will I still be able to report phishing emails to the Comcast Customer Security Assurance team's official email address?

Will it cost anything to report spam through Yahoo mail? If so, how much?

So what you're saying is, I should scroll down to a button that says something like, "Mark As Spam And Report Phishing" within Yahoo Mail (when the transition happens), and it will automatically forward to Yahoo's Customer Security service? I wonder if Comcast will still have their Customer Security Assurance team to report spam emails to.

So I would scroll with the arrow keys to the "Mark As Spam And Report Phishing" button, then press Enter, and it automatically gets moved to the Junk Mail folder. I wonder if Yahoo Mail has a "Block Sender" button. The reason why I ask is because it seems that some of my "blocked" senders are being added to "Collected Addresses" in the Xfinity Connect website. "Collected Addresses", as far as I know, is supposed to be only for "Safe Senders" and "Safe Recipients", right?

You would think so, but this has been broken for years, and Comcast/Xfinity and its Open-Xchange App Suite webmail subcontactor don't seem to have any interest in fixing it. As I wrote in https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/problems-with-appsuite-collected-addresses/669e499f8c8da0745ade0376 in July 2024":
In that thread Comcast employees state that addresses are no longer being "Collected" while reading, but what about "when deleting from the Spam folder"?
At least in the two years since I posted that, it seems as though it's possible to delete all the unwanted "Collected addresses" at once, instead of just one-at-a-time. Or when I did that a few minutes ago perhaps it was just a "Bug of the Day" feature.
ETA: Sure enough, the "delete all Collected address" that worked an hour ago isn't working now. I'm back to "one-at-a-time". Unbelievable!

@XfinityThomasB I pressed Enter on that link you provided, and it says something about reporting emails that "violate Yahoo's Terms Of Service". Is that the same as marking an email as spam?
