Enter the correct password?

If you are using Comcast's servers (connect.xfinity.com, mail.comcast.net, imap.comcast.net, and smtp.comcast.net), the email (IMAP) password is the same as the password you use to log in to a Comcast/Xfinity web page or app. There is no separate "IMAP password".

If you need to reset your password, see https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/changing-or-resetting-your-password. If you change it you'll also have to update it on any devices, apps, and programs (email, Xfinity app. etc.) that use it.

If you are accessing a Comcast.net email account that has been migrated to Yahoo, you would be using their servers (pop.mail.yahoo.com or imap.mail.yahoo.com, and smtp.mail.yahoo.com), and the email (IMAP) password is the same as the password you use to log in to Yahoo.com.

Again, there is no separate "IMAP password". If you need to reset that one, see https://help.yahoo.com/kb/new-yahoo-mail/reset-yahoo-password-sln27051.html

Hi there! Sorry to hear you're having trouble adding it back. Where in the process of adding it back are you getting stuck?

For the second time in five months, I am having this issue that says, “Password Incorrect, Enter the password for the IMAP Account “Comcast.”  After spending hours, trying to fix this last time, I finally spoke with a Comcast employee who had me delete my Mail app, And then reinstall it. That created more headaches and I lost all of my folders and this required more time. Spent trying to fix it. I’m incredibly frustrated with Comcast right now that this password incorrect message has popped up again. I didn’t change anything the last time and I have not changed anything this time. My passwords are all correct. I have not migrated to Yahoo.  I am able to access my Comcast email via the web.

Is there a simple workaround? Is Comcast aware that I am not the only one having this  ?

maddog2010 Can you please try resetting your password entirely, as the previous instructions indicate, and then use that password to try and sign in? If it's still not allowing you to access your email, please let us know.

I can try that suggestion, to reset my password, but I would like to know why this happens at all. This has happened to me twice, and I have not changed any settings, any password, anything. It’s quite frustrating. Additionally, this problem was happening on both my iPhone and my iPad, but all of a sudden my iPhone is working correctly. My iPad is still not. I will try resetting the password and get back to you

@maddog2010 I appreciate the update of resetting the password and attempting, I look forward to your reply.

That is a great question regarding why that may change or need to be updated. It is for enhanced security and to accommodate ongoing platform mitigations.

So as an experiment, I deleted my password and then re-entered the same password, and now my email is working. None of this makes sense to me, but for now, the problem is fixed

@maddog2010 thank you for the update, that is wonderful to hear that updating the password helped fix the email concern. Like I had mentioned earlier, most times these are for security purposes when those are required.

If you are ever worried about your email security we do have an awesome Customer Security Assurance team you can work with, here is the website and easiest way to contact them: https://spa.xfinity.com/help

I'd be happy to give it a few days and follow back up with you here to confirm everything is still working and email accessible. Does that work for you?
