I keep getting emails saying I must update but I am now sure these are legitimate.

I keep getting emails from different email addresses about updating my email and I am not sure if this is something I should do

I keep getting emails from different email addresses about updating my email ...

Can't say for sure without knowing more, but "Update now or lose your service" emails are almost always SCAMS.

Check email that claims to be from Comcast/Xfinity with their Connect webmail (https://connect.xfinity.com/) and look for the XFINITY Verified Email logo. See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email for examples of valid logo placement. A logo in the body of the email does not count.

Unfortunately, AFAIK the logo is not present when you view one of their messages in an email app or program. It's only visible when you use their web email site, and only for email sent to a Comcast.net address.

To report a scam email follow the instructions under the "How do I report phishing email sent to or from a Comcast.net email account?" heading on https://spa.xfinity.com/help/email-abuse?faq=spam-email.

Hi there! Great question, and we’re really glad you asked before clicking anything.

You’re right to be cautious, emails asking you to “update” your account are a very common type of phishing attempt. Xfinity will not send urgent or threatening messages asking you to click a link and update your information out of the blue, especially from random or different email addresses.

The safest thing to do is not click any links in those emails. Instead, if you ever want to check your account, go directly to the official Xfinity website by typing it into your browser yourself or using the Xfinity app.

A couple quick things to look for in those emails:

  • Strange or misspelled sender addresses
  • Urgent language like “act now” or “your account will be closed”
  • Links that don’t clearly go to an official Xfinity domain

If anything feels off, it’s always better to ignore or delete it.

If you’d like, you can also tell us what the email says (without sharing personal info), and we can help you double-check if it’s legitimate.
