How do I clean out my Collected Addresses

I have well over 600 collected addresses and want to clean them out.  I suspect the best way is to export them and edit this list down.  But I see no way to completely clean out this folder so when I import them back, I only import what I want.  How do I do this?

Bulk delete has been intentionally removed due to some malicious activity. There are some changes in development to help with this, after the changes are implemented we will look at enabling it again.

In the meantime, if you could provide some feedback on the concerns around collected, especially the concern about the security risk. Note: these addresses are added automatically based on your settings in webmail.

@XfinityGabrielS Now we're getting somewhere.  Specifically WHAT settings in webmail, and how do you access them?  That would, at least, enable us to stop adding unwanted addresses and making the issue even worse then it is now

It looks like the problem is fixed. I was able to select more than one, and also the box to select all, and the Delete function works.

Click the gear icon to open the settings if you want to change them.

@Mike_AG Good evening, Happy Friday! Thank you for reaching out regarding your concern today. I would be delighted to get you in the right direction today. To be sure you and I are on the same page, is this 600 email addresses?

@Mike_AG Thank you for confirming this information, I wanted to be sure you and I are on the same page. When you get into your Collected Addresses option, and then export the addresses, you should be able to clean them up from your export file. Are you able to export them okay?

If I export them, then edit the list and import, will that delete all the old addresses or just duplicate them, which would make even more of a mess

@Mike_AG I completely understand where you are coming from, duplicating them could cause a bit of a mess. The other option would be to go into that folder, and towards the top there is a box that you can click on. Once you click on that, you will be able to scroll through the addresses. You would select the "control" button, and do multiples at a time. While I know that can be some work, but it that would be another option.

Something doesn't seem right. I believe that's the problem OP is having. I was previously able to empty the collected addresses by checking the box at the top which would select all of them, then clicking delete. Now when I check the box, delete is grayed out. I'm only able to delete if I select one at a time.

I see no such box on the upper right.  I have, in order from left to right, Direct Messaging, In-app Notifications and my user ID.

And I completely agree with the previous poster.  In fact I tried the old windows trick of holding down the CTRL key and selecting multiple messages.  While that works, the delete option is greyed out, making that shortcut equally useless.  Looks like a fairly significant software bug that should have never seen the light of day. I'm in software development myself.

I have also clicked on the sandwich boxes in the images below to get their selections.  There's no delete function in either of them.  Please address this as this is a just plain stupid error that should be fixed ASAP

Another way to clean out the collected addresses would be to move them to an address book.  Guess what?  You can't do that either.  If you double click on an address, you have an option to 'Add' (not Move from) and the form you get doesn't have a selection for any address book - just a group.  Clearly no one ever thought this functionality through or tested it very well.

I am sorry for this experience, @Mike_AG. I know this is a basic step and you may have tried it but I want to ensure we exhaust the troubleshooting. If you select multiple messages with the Control button does the delete button on the keyboard work to delete them or does that not work either?

I've tried 3x to answer, but for some reason, it never shows up.  Yes I've tried both methods and they both fail.  While I can select multiple messages using CTRL, the delete key on the keyboard doesn't work, and neither does the delete option on the form.  That option is greyed out and inaccessible

I found this older post from May 2021. It says this issue is for our safety and convenience.

What a crock!  Since when would over 600 addresses be convenient and for safety?   Sounds to me like it's a brush off

This is a totally unacceptable situation.  How can having 600 addresses be 'convenient and safe'?  Like I said before this sounds like a brush off for a clear issue that someone really doesn't want to solve.

Annoyed....

I have over 3500 addresses trying to get rid of. A huge security risk.

Get this fixed ASAP.

Just to add------the issue has not been fixed for me.  I still can't delete more than one contact at a time.

I don't know when mine was fixed, because I hadn't looked at it for the last few months. Maybe it's one of those things that can't be rolled out to all users at once. Do you have the same version?

... Do you have the same version? ...

I also have v7.10.5-0-33 but cannot delete more that one entry at a time from either "Address Book" or "Collected" (tested in Chrome and Firefox).

I guess the version isn't the problem. I just checked mine again, and the delete grays out if I check more than one. But it was definitely working yesterday.

I have no idea how to tell what version I have, but not being able to delete multiple collected addresses - or even stop collecting them - is still an issue here

As previously commented this functionality was intentionally disabled due to malicious activity.  Disabling the addresses collection feature going forward should still be available in settings as commented above by rightfooted with screenshots, just need to uncheck the two boxes.

@Mike_AG  are you getting an error with settings or not seeing it?

@XfinityGabrielS Not seeing that screen at all.  I have no idea how to access it.

On the Inbox page, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner, then on Email Settings.  On the landing page click on "Mail".  On that page you will see the boxes to uncheck to disable the collection of addresses.

This only plugs the leak - it doesn't really address the issue of cleaning out the addresses that have already been collected.  Thanks anyway
