Emoticon issue still ongoing
I am not able to insert emoticons into Xfinity emails. Apparently this has been ongoing for quite a long time looking at various threads of forum conversations with no resolution. Seeing posts from as far back as over a year ago. I use Microsoft 8.1 / Chrome usually (sometimes Internet Explorer but same issue on that) on a Dell desktop. Has anyone ever gotten an answer from Xfinity that resolves the issue? It looks like some "upgrades" messed up the emoticon option. The only place I've been able to insert an emoticon is on this forum! 😠 Can someone update me on if Xfinity has actually given anyone an actual fix for this? At one point they responded to hold down the Windows key and press either the (-) or (+) key a couple of times. Did not work. They also said to clear temp files, etc. but that didn't work for anyone either. The last thread I found on this issue ended around 12/2019 but was closed by Xfinity because it turned into a complaint-fest about Comcast. Help!

I do not feel I have to use my G-MAIL because Comcast can't seem to fix their's. I have my G-mail as a secondary. For the amount of people that have complained about this and for so long, it's amazing that they can't seem to fix something like this. 😪 I see they work on here.

I have done every thing imagineable that could possibly be done. No matter what it still doesn't work. Why is this so hard to fix?

I never even thought about that! But, I want to add something to the solution, kind of an "add-on" if you will.
The tech had you use Ctrl and your scroll wheel, but it also works with Ctrl and the + [plus] key to enlarge your screen or Ctrl and the - [minus] key to shrink your screen [not the window, just the viewable screen]. So, you don't need to actually open a Compose window. They had you do that so that you could see the results for your emoticons.
So, good call on the tech's part!!!
FWIW, I rarely use Connect webmail. I use Thunderbird which has an emoticon add-on, but this is on a Windows machine; Chromebooks [basic] don't have the ability to install programs, so that would limit anyone using a Chromebook, unless you have an internal hard drive, which I think some of the more expensive Chromebooks might have.
DGM1948, thanks for posting that solution!

Susan, so sorry it didn't work for you. I would suggest trying it one more time? I'm hoping it works for some others at least. Such a frustrating issue!

I tried what you said. It only took a short time. I now have most of my emoticons in color and a few are in black. But at least I have some to use now. After all this time. So thank you, Thank you, so very much.

I did try to post it to you but it did not work. If you right click an email, the first thing that comes up is "Emoji" when you click on that, it pulls up the emoticons.
💕👛👘🐦🐹🐈🐱😈 It still did NOT work for me.
