Emails in inbox were deleted and 1500 emails now appear unread that were previously read and deleted.

I was viewing my Comcast email account in Apple’s Mail app. While I was viewing it, the email I was viewing was suddenly deleted as well as all of my emails, both read and unread from the last 30 days. My xfinity mailbox also has these emails missing.

As this happened, my unread emails went from less than 200 unread emails to 1500 unread emails. Many of which I had previously opened and deleted. Going back years.

What can I do to recover the emails that I am missing? Only some of them are in my deleted folder. Why did my emails suddenly appear as unread months and years after I read them and deleted them?

Hey there, User_MaxP thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding the issues with your emails. I know how important it is to have an email account working properly as I rely on my email for important information.

Have you tried logging in to your Comcast email account through our website to see if you are seeing the same missing emails or have you tried accessing on a different device?

My parents are having this same problem and they are logged in to the Xfinity website.

I have a similar problem. I access Comcast email using Outlook and every week or so 100 to 150 read messages change to unread. They are still in the folders I file them into and to my knowledge I haven't lost any.

Tremblay50, Thanks for posting here with Xfinity Support. I am glad that you are not losing email. As far as them switching from read to unread, double-check your settings and make sure something isn't off there. Also, clearing cache and cookies is a good thing to do now and then. We are here to help, so let us know if it continues.
