Email Stopped Syncing

Comcast emails stopped syncing yesterday.  This is happening on both the phone using a 3rd part app, and the computer using Outlook.  When I try to repair the connection on Outlook, it says "We couldn't connect to the incoming (IMAP) server using the specified encryption method.  Please check the incoming (IMAP) server encryption method and try again."  My incoming server settings are: IMAP: imap.comcast.net PORT: 993 ENCRYPTION METHOD: SSL/TLS.  Outgoing server settings are: SMTP: smtp.comcast.net Port: 587 ENCRYPTION METHOD: STARTTLS.  I am able to access my web email and through the Xfinity app.  No settings have been changed in the past month.  I updated my 3rd party application on my phone to no avail.  I installed Outlook on my phone and was unable to add the comcast email to the app and I get an Unable to login message.  I also checked to ensure Third Part Access Security was enabled.  Please help!

I have been experiencing the same issue since yesterday morning. I have done every step in the troubleshooting recommendations to no avail. In my case, I use apple mail on my phone and I haven't had an issue with that. The issue is just with Outlook on my PC.

The same is happening for me and my wife.  I suspect the issue is with xfinity.  They are moving everyone to yahoo email servers (although your email remains the same).  Eventually you should get an invite saying your particular account has been transferred.  I suspect that those of us still using the old email servers are going to continue to suffer until we are moved.

I am having the same issue as well.  last synched message was at 9:07 AM Eastern on 12/8.  Feels like a Monday AM patch that was not tested properly.

Hey folks,

We are looking into this.

Could you please share which Outlook version and operating system you're using?

I am having the same problem with email sync.  Using latest release of Thunderbird and have had no problems whatsoever for years.  My IMAP connection has been generating a server timeout error since Monday afternoon Dec 8th.  I got a few updates Tuesday morning and nothing but timeout errors since then.  I can successfully send emails from my Comcast email accounts but can't sync any of my incoming emails.  I've checked all account configurations on Thunderbird, signed in Xfinity and checked emails through the browser with no errors or notifications, rebooted my router, and tried to access using a different computer and email client.  None of these attempts was successful.  Something is definitely wrong on the Xfinity server end.  Please help.

I am using Thunderbird Ver 146.0  .... As I mentioned, using Thunderbird I can successfully send emails to others so the SMTP works fine.  However, the IMAP connection fails with a timeout.  I have two accounts on Xfinity email and both are having the same issue.  My original configuration was using standard ports (993/587) with SSL/TLS security with "normal" password authentication method for both IMAP and SMTP.  I have tried using STARTTLS with OAuth authentication but that did not resolve the issue.  I also tried setting up access to the accounts on a separate computer using MailSpring and got the same timeout issues, so with others using Outlook, me using Thunderbird and Mailspring, the issue doesn't seem to be related to the email client being used.  Also, note that I did get intermittent syncs on Tuesday morning but even that has ceased since then.  In changing the settings and testing the connection, I did get a few successful connections to Xfinity IMAP server but the server appeared to immediately disconnect the link.  Let us know if we can help in any way.

I am having this exact same issue. It started yesterday.  I deleted my account and added it back on the iphone apple mail app.  I keep getting "cannot connect to imap server" error.
