Email not working properly

This morning, when I went to use my email, it wasn't working properly. Thunderbird gave some weird error message about trying to download an email. When I went to the webmail, it was there, but when I tried to open it, it was blank.

I sent an email from my Comcast account to myself, and that worked. I sent from Comcast to some other accounts. That worked. I sent from those other accounts (Gmail and AT&T/Yahoo) to Comcast, and nothing yet received.

Is there a known issue going on?

This is long resolved and was just a temporary glitch.

I am experiencing the same thing in Maryland, with same email client, and the same behavior with Comcast and alternate web email . . .

It seems to be working better now. I did get those emails a few minutes later, and I did get email about the reply from @ggeinec.

@andyross

Same here. Emails appear to be dribbling in now but I'm still missing a bunch from yesterday and overnight.

At least it's a start.

I'm experiencing the same issues in Connecticut! It seems that Xfinity Connect is down as well! When will the issues be fixed? :(

Webmail is a bit flaky. Sometimes it will give an error about not being able to access the inbox, but a refresh fixes it. I assume there is some sort of update or maintenance going on in the background.

Seems to be more or less fixed, at least for me. I did get a delivery failure for the first test message I sent from AT&T/Yahoo, although a later one made it through after a delay. I did another test, and that one was received within seconds.

@andyross Yeah, I can see that it's now fixed, so now I can access e-mails again. :)

Same here but last 14 days worth of emails in inbox and trash have just vanished! Older ones and those from later today still there.

All my emails from 3/4 through 3/16 disappeared and are still missing. Most were already in the trash, so not a problem, but a few were still in my inbox and sent boxes.

I access my email directly through the Comcast site.

Thank you for those details. Email deletion settings program Xfinity Connect to remove old messages from your Spam and Trash folders automatically. These settings apply to the date of the email; the settings are listed below.

  • Spam: 7 days
    • Only flagged Spam will be deleted after 7 days
  • Trash: 14 days

Note: Email deletion settings cannot be customized, and the default settings above cannot be edited. Inbox and Sent messages will not be removed automatically.

To Create a Personal Folder

If you want to save email, we recommend creating a personal folder.

The folder you create will be displayed in the left-hand navigation bar. If a personal folder is located in the Spam or Trash folders, it will be affected by the deletion settings.

Recovering Deleted Emails

If you have deleted emails from your Xfinity Connect account inadvertently, see the instructions for recovering them.

I no longer work for Comcast.

After my earlier reply to another comment this morning about emails starting to dribble in they stopped and nothing since then . . .

I have the same problem here in Pennsylvania. To make it worse, my download speed was down to 33.1 for a while earlier today.

I am also having issues with Comcast webmail. Emails that are usually forwarded from my gmail account to my Comcast account aren’t showing up or are coming in several hours later. In addition, the subfolders I have set up in my Comcast account under the parent folder “Inbox” have moved to the parent folder “My folders”. When I look at my settings, it shows 0% email usage, and it was 75% earlier today. The last time that percentage dropped to 0%, I lost most of my folders and the emails that were in them.

My issues appear to have been resolved, and all but two emails sent to my gmail account eventually arrived in my Comcast inbox.

Anybody still having issues?

At least my in box will load now. I was able to get a few messages out last night. Now this morning I can't reply, forward, or even compose new messages. The window opens but the cursor just spins & spins. Nothing loads.

Unofficial word today (3/18) from a nontechnical Comcast employee: Comcast has been working on email server "for a couple of days."

Still intermittent as far as external mail getting in. Sent a test message awhile ago, but still not received.

@andyross My OOPSIE. I realized I was sending the test message to @comast.net instead of @comcast.net!!
