email hacked over the weekend still having issues

My email was hacked over the weekend and once I was alerted by several friends & family, I immediately changed the password. Monday, I realized that I was not receiving emails on my account. I checked the email settings and unchecked the auto forwarding and deleted all filters as I had not set any up. I still was not receiving emails so I had incoming emails forwarded to my gmail account so that I would not miss important notices from my kids' school.  Even turned on 2-factor authentication. That worked until this evening when I noticed that I had not received any emails since this morning at 7:33 a.m. Logged in and discovered that auto forwarding had been changed back to the "offending" email address and my new incoming emails were again routed to the "unwanted" folder. I have again changed the forwarding email, moved the emails out and this time deleted the "unwanted" folder. I don't want this to continue to happen.
