Email and phone call scam.

The email I got was offering a free WI Fi pod extender from xfinity. I called a number that I got off of a search because no phone numbers are available on the website or on the app. That's when it went bad and I had to do some credit card magic. Maybe they should fix that and make a phone number available instead of making you go through their  assistant that runs you around in circles. I'm not sure but I think I verified that there is an offer.

user_9ko27d thank you for using the Xfinity Community Forums page to reach out today. I want to ensure I am understanding your concern correctly. You received an email regarding a free xFi Pod but couldn't find a number to connect with someone. You then had to use your credit card to get in contact with someone regarding the free item?

Answering the email on calling a phone number.

Got me some identity theft. Can't find a phone number on xfinity. But I searched online and came up with one that looked official, but it wasn't. I'm usually not one that gives out my credit card number, but there it is.

@user_9ko27d , I am sorry to hear that you almost became a victim to a scam, but I am glad to hear that your bank is on top of things! For future reference this article Information about your rights and how to contact Xfinity is great if you happen to forget out number, I would recommend booking marking it.
Xfinity's phone number is 1-800-934-6489 or 1-800-xfinity if that makes it easier to remember.

This article here Common phone scams and how to protect yourself is a great resource to make sure you are following the best steps to protect yourself from scams at all times. The article will also provide you with instructions on how to report a phone scam to the Federal Trade Commission(FTC), please do so when you have the chance. On the brightside, the xFi pod offering does exist, did you run into any trouble accepting the offer in the email?
