E-mail access on multiple devices stopped working two days ago, xfinity log-in works fine

Two days ago, multiple e-mail clients on multiple devices stopped working for Comcast e-mail, only.  The username and password are valid when logging into xfinity.  Yahoo mail has not happened yet.  I've tried logging in (entering the credentials for comcast email), but it just says something is wrong.  I toggled the third-party email access button in xfinity settings without a change.  I even successfully changed the password and confirmed, and tried the new password to no avail (for e-mail, works for xfinity).  The web mail stinks on a phone.  Just want to get access like it was before it all magically stopped on a few devices.

The devices are MacBook Air, iPhone, and iPad running recent OS versions (mac OS/ iOS 26.x).

When trying to add a Comcast account to my mail client it is not yet asking for a provider (like those who have migrated to Yahoo).

Hi @user_ohjqr8,

What is the mail client that you are attempting to use?

Hello.  I am having the same issue.  My xfinity email stopped working on my iMac despite no changes on my end a few days ago.  It is still working on my Ipad and iPhone.  The first time after about 15 minutes it just started working again.  Then the next morning it stopped and I cannot get it to work.  When I log into Xfinity my email works so it is not a password issue.  Also I have toggled the security third party option but that didn't do anything.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thank you

Hi there, @user_vqemyw! Thanks for being part of our Xfinity Forums community! I am sorry to hear that your emails are not coming through to your iMac. I appreciate the steps you tried. It is good to know you see the emails on your other devices and through Xfinity email. I have some further questions for you.

Do you see a certain error come up or just no messages arrive?

Are you able to send outgoing mail on your iMac?

Does your iMac have all system updates completed?

What OS is the iMac using?

Have you tried to remove the email box and add it again? This link shows how to set up the email box again, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/email-client-programs-with-xfinity-email.

Hello. Thank you for getting back to me. I keep getting a request to enter my password and when I do, the message I get is Unable to verify account name or password. I cannot send or receive mail with my iMac. All of a sudden, I started to get this message and I did not change any of the settings on my iMac. I was having this problem before I updated to the most recent iOS 27, which I did this morning, but that did not solve the problem. I have not deleted and added the email yet because quite frankly I’m afraid I’m going to use lose all the emails that I currently have if I do that. I just don’t understand how out of the blue this can happen when my iPhone and iPad are working fine. Also, my third party box is checked on the Xfinity email page.  Any

advice would be appreciated or who I could contact to get this resolved.  Thank you

Do you know if you have the settings on your iMac client for IMAP or POP accounts? I ask because IMAP accounts retain messages and folders on the Xfinity side, and when deleting/re-adding the email account, it shouldn't delete any saved emails and should redownload them when re-added. If it is set up as a POP account, some or all of the messages and folders are saved directly on your iMac, so deleting it would also delete them. You can check in the Mail app on your iMac:

  • Open Mail on the iMac.
  • Go to Mail > Settings > Accounts.
  • Select the Xfinity account.
  • Look for whether it's configured as IMAP or POP.

Because the email account is working fine on your iPhone and iPad, it's hard to tell what's causing the issue, but I would lean toward something on the iMac itself, but don't want to rule out any possibilities yet. Have you already tried clearing the cached Apple Mail app account settings to refresh any possible data issues? I had a similar issue on my iPad and found that a saved password in the Keychain was causing the login to fail, so it may be a good idea to check there as well if you have that set up.
