Comcast IMAP e-mail in Desktop Outlook

Yesterday, comcast e-mail from within a desktop Outlook app stopped sending mail.  So, I deleted the Comcast account from Outlook and tried to re-establish it.  It will not set the account up again in IMAP.  I have tried everything, clearing Outlook cache, etc.

I was traveling last weekend and had to enlist the VPN for a couple of days at my son's place.  When I returned to my home office, which has a secure network, I stopped the VPN.  Seemed like the problems started then.

I am putting all the correct items into the field to re-establish the comcast account in Outlook but nothing is working.  Can anyone point me in a direction on this or help.  The Xfinity Chat and Phone help were so bad and just kept looping me with bad or failed questions.  No chance to reach live help.  SO VERY FRUSTRATING.

user_pyy1zh Here are the steps we have for your email client:

Open your email client (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird).
Navigate to the option to add a new account.
Enter your name, Comcast email address (e.g., username@comcast.net), and password.
Choose IMAP as the account type.
Configure the incoming mail server with:
Server Name: imap.comcast.net
Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS
Username: Your Comcast email address
Password: Your Comcast email password
Configure the outgoing mail server with:
Server Name: smtp.comcast.net
Port: 587
Security: STARTTLS or SSL/TLS
Authentication: Yes, require authentication
Username: Your Comcast email address
Password: Your Comcast email password
Verify the settings and complete the setup process.

@XfinityPeterH Thank Peter, I tried everything in your message and it failed.  Said "We cannot connect you to the incoming server"   Check your user name and password.

The user name and password are correct, as I can log in with NO ISSUES directly on xfinity.com website.  So not sure what the issue is???

user_pyy1zh Gotcha. Outside of those settings provided our scope for support on 3rd party apps is limited. However I am glad to hear you can access your account via our Website.

Any chance there is something related to VPN usage in the past few days that started the problem?  Anyway I can check if it is an IP or connection problem?  It is not a user name or password problem.

This was working well inside of Outlook for years.  Why I cannot re-establish the mail account in Outlook has just got me so frustrated.

I any event, I did appreciate your attempt to help me.  Thank you.

user_pyy1zh We have a lot of customers who use VPN and don't seem to have any issues, but sometimes VPNs can cause problems. Something you could try would be to renew your IP address.

Unfortunately, that had no impact.  But again, thanks for the effort!
