Comcast Email NEW Outlook

I have a new laptop. When received last week I set up my Comcast email in Outlook with no problem until today. I have read all the things and verified all of the settings. I am entering the correct credentials. I removed the account and now I am unable to add it as a new IMAP account. Oddly enough, I can add it as a POP account, but that is not recommended. Why would I be able to add it as a POP account (pop3.comcast.net, port 995) and not an IMAP (impa.comcast.net, port 993) account?

tanailobban Hi there! It’s definitely frustrating to have your email working one day and then suddenly not being able to set it up again as IMAP. Since you were able to add it as a POP account but not IMAP, a few things could be at play:

1. IMAP Server Address Typo – Double-check that you’re using imap.comcast.net (not impa.comcast.net). A small typo could be causing the issue.

2. Authentication Issues – If two-step verification is enabled on your account, you may need to generate an App Password for Outlook instead of using your regular password.

3. Security Settings or Firewall – Your new laptop's security settings, antivirus, or firewall may be blocking the IMAP connection. Temporarily disabling them could help troubleshoot.

4. Outlook Autodiscover Issues – Sometimes, Outlook struggles to auto-configure IMAP. Manually entering all settings (server, ports, encryption) in the advanced setup may help.

5. Comcast Email Account Issue – Try logging in to Xfinity Webmail to ensure there are no account issues preventing IMAP connections.

Since POP is working, that suggests the server itself is reachable, but something is preventing the IMAP handshake. Let us know if you still need help after these steps!

I'm having a similar issue.  I noticed my emails werent syncing properly on both my phone & Mac.  I was able to delete the account on my phone & re-add it with no issues.  My Mac is another story.  Every time I try to add it, I get an error.  I've confirmed the settings multiple times.  So frustrating.

Same issue for me. At first when I would try to send emails from my account, they never left the outbox. Then I switched back to legacy Mac outlook and still had the same issue. It will get my emails, but I can't send them.

I switched back to the new outlook for mac and deleted my xfinity account and now when I try to add it, I get "we encountered an error while adding account".

The password is correct, I have third party access granted on the xfinity side, and I can't find a way to create an app password for xfinity.

Changing to a new Router...somehow...disconnected my Comcast mail to my Outlook.   Cannot get it fixed.   I have Microsoft for Family.....but I thought I had 365 for Mac..???   On the 'add account' page it will NOT recognize my password...tried xxxx times...I read that it should be the same password we use to get into Comcast....does not work.  WHY not?  The connection worked fine before the new Router....what happened?.....This is quite annoying

Hello Anon314168. Thank you for sharing the experience you are having with accessing your email since changing routers. I'm sorry that there seems to be a hiccup somewhere in the configurations. Emails are an important method of communication, so it's crucial that you have access. Typically, when you are access your email through xfinity.com you should be able to use the same credentials for setting up the email client. If the password is not working with the email client, you can try to change your password. Ensure you can access and receive mail again online at xfinity.com and try the new password within the email client.

Have you had any trouble with sending and receiving email through the website
