Can't add mail account in Xfinity Connect
My husband and I have a joint email account [primary account], but I also have a separate comcast.net mail account that I use for personal emails. Until yesterday, I was able to monitor both at one time when logged in - I had used the "Add mail account" button to put both in the same nav list. But yesterday, I suddenly received an error message that the authentication wasn't working on the added mail account. I don't know why the system bumped the added account off when it has been working fine for over a year. It's not like it's an external email address, so turning off third-party access shouldn't affect it, right?
Anyway, I couldn't clear the error, so I deleted the added mail account (my personal account) from the list and tried to reinstall it but couldn't. The program gives me the following error message: "The provided password for the email address *****@comcast.net is incorrect."
But the password is not incorrect. If I log off the joint account, I can log in just fine on my personal account - but then I can't see the joint account and I get the same message if I try to add it. And there is no option to manually add another account (I looked up how to do that, but it doesn't give me a manual option.)
I found another forum questions discussing this problem, but that one had to do with limitations on the app version. I am not on the app. I am on the desktop, and I have manager-level permissions (so it shouldn't be a permissions issue, right?). I have tried adding my personal mail account when logged into the joint account and it didn't work. I tried adding the joint account when logged into my personal account, and it didn't work. How do I fix this?

Thanks for that. I tried adding one of my other Comcast email addresses to my main email the other day and couldn't do it. It never occurred to me that I needed to enable third-party access for the address I was adding. I just tried it both ways and my results are that adding the email doesn't work if the address you are adding doesn't have third-party access enabled, but it DOES work if it IS enabled.

Thank you! Yes, this worked! The problem was that our joint account allowed third party access, but my personal account didn't. So, the solution is that all mail accounts must have the third party access button checked (allowing access) before they can be added, even if they are internal comcast.net accounts. Thank you!

OK then something strange is going on folks. After reading both of your posts, I tried an experiment: the account I use for these forums is a secondary account under my primary. So I opened a private browsing window and signed into the primary. I then went into the Security setting and disabled the 3rd party client feature. I was able to add both of my secondary accounts and the primary from my service in another state (I'm a snowbird) with no issues at all. To make sure its not just Comcast accounts, I also added my Vivaldi email account. I used the "Add mail account" feature in the folder pane of the primary.
Go figure.
Or are you talking about something else?

Here's a new wrinkle folks ... I am trying to add my second xfinity mail account to Xfinity Connect web mail access on my android phone. I use the "add mail" link in the folders view and I get an error that says the password I am using in incorrect. Yes, I double and triple checked that I keyed it in correctly. I just used the same password to log in to my email account from a desktop computer. Ideas?

I am having the exact same problem on my iPhone 11. I got my desktop version working, but not the mobile. It was working at one time, because I managed to get both of my accounts viewable, but when I try to respond to emails from the secondary user, they won't send. I get the following message: "Cannot Send Mail. The user name or password for "c***@comcast.net is incorrect." If I click on settings, I get into the same loop as user_a274d7 reported above.

When you sign into the account on the phone, go into the settings, and under Security, make sure the box is checked for third party client access if you are trying to use a mail client on the phone.

I have two accounts on my comcast email....Both accounts show up when I log into xfinity...I just installed Outlook 2019 and can only add my primary account ...It fails to find my secondary...I tried changing port settings and authentication but nothing seems to work...I did read that disabling third part access may work but didn't want to try it in fear it would disable my primary account.
