Cannot setup email accounts on my Samsung phone.

A couple of days ago, I noticed my email was not syncing with my Samsung Phone or my Samsung Tablet.  However, it is syncing with Outlook on my laptop.  I’m also able to log in online with no issues.  Today, I tried deleting my two Comcast email accounts from both my tablet and phone and re-added them.  It worked just fine with my tablet and my emails are up to date now, but I was unable to re-add my accounts on my phone.  I keep getting the error message.  “Couldn’t connect to your account.  Check your account and server information, then try again.  I’m using IMAP and the same settings as used by my tablet, which is working fine now.  I’ve tried clearing the cache and data and rebooted the phone several times.  Nothing works.

kmbhomeschool Hi there! Thank you for reaching out.
I apologize that is happening and am happy to help!

Have you tried these troubleshooting steps already?

1. Deleted your account from your email app
2. Changed your Xfinity password online
3. Powered off your phone to reset the network
4. Reinstalled email account using the new password?

Are you able to login at the Xfinity Connect email site?

Hello All,

My checking of the "Third Party Access Security" box for the second time, has now lasted 2 hours, this is in the My Xfinity settings, not the app, in the app, I have the sync schedule set at "Auto (when received)", not every 15 minutes, the app seems to sync much quicker now.

I have been having exactly the same issues.  After trying all the fixes mentioned in this thread, I finally found a solution!  On my Samsung S9, I tapped Settings, tapped Apps, selected the Samsung Email app.  In the upper right corner are several dots.  I tapped them and it said "uninstall update".  I selected yes and it said choosing to continue would reset the app to factory settings.  I selected yes.

I then attempted to sign in again on the app with my comcast email and it worked immediately!

@Aalford The latest Samsung Email app version is a disaster with constant syncing.  Drains my battery an additional 50% overnight.  I also rolled back a version and have not had problems since.

You have to install xfinity app because of 2 step authentication.

Then go ahead and add the email account and x app with ask for approval

for this request to approve or deny.

user_mric9y thank you for using the Community Forums page to reach out. I would be happy to look into your email concerns. Are you using a third party email application with your Samsung device?

Late last night all samsung email started working on all android devices (Tab4/S23), needed to log in to account and then synch started.  So what changed?  Is it fixed? Or will this be a big fake out?  Any clue from Xfinity support about whether there was some change on Xfinity side would be helpful.

Appears the syncing issue may be fixed however now any email that has an attachment will not open.  This includes new emails that just came thru and older emails that opened fine before this issue.  Please Xfinity can you get these issues fixed!!  This is terrible.

Well the syncing was short lived.   Now back to getting couldn’t verify account.  Unable to connect to server (imap.comcast.net)

My email is working again and is continuing to sync.  I had a software update on the 7th and that's when my problem started.  Coincidence?

I also cannot add my Xfinity email to my Android phone.  the other complication that I have is I no longer have Xfinity as my service provide since we've moved out of CT to Maine and now have Spectrum!  Help.

I also no longer have xfinity. Get the x app because of 2 step authentication.  Delete your account from your email then reinstall and the x app will pop up for you to deny or approve.

@user_7vy6jr

If user kbju51 no longer has Xfinity as their service provider, how would they have an Xfinity Comcast email account any longer, or the x app to sign into ?

@JohnnyJJ you can still keep comcast e mail as long as you sign in once every 30 days even if you don't have service.  At least here in Connecticut

When connected to a wireless network emails fail.  When connected to my home network all works just fine.

@user_hhduez Hi there! Thanks for sharing the experience with being able to access your email when not on w wireless network. I'm sorry for the trouble. I know it's important to have access to your email across all connections. Let's try to figure what's going wrong and fix it for us!

Are you having issues with send, receiving or both when on a wireless network? Do any other apps have connection issues at the same time?

Hey @user_ldkor4,

Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues on your mobile device after the recent update that was released. Sometimes things such as settings can be changed or altered during an update. We do recommend checking the following if you are experiencing issues:

1. Verify your login information works online at Xfinity Email
2. Verify the IMAP Server Settings within the native Mail app
3. Verify that Third-Party Email Access is enabled within Xfinity Email
4. Delete your profile in the native phone app and add again using the settings provided in step 2

This may help regain access using the mail app, and verify that you have access still using an online web browser.

I'm having this same issue as well. As are a ton of other people. I really don't know if its an xfinity thing or an app thing or both. The app was already having syncing issues on my Galaxy S21 after the update. Then I changed my xfinity password last night. Went I go to enter in my password it redirects you to another page. I've tried literally everything that everyone mentioned in this thread and nothing has worked. Some people have been able to enter the password first and then enter the username, but that doesn't work me and keeps saying password or username incorrect blah blah blah. I've tried changing my xfinity password, deleting the cache on the email app, deleting the data on the email app, uninstalled it, deleted the email completely from my app, reset the phone, turned off the phone for 10 minutes, turned off 2 step verification, turned on 2 step verification, uninstalled the xfinity app from the phone, reinstalled, etc. Nothing changes.

UPDATE!!! As I was writing this I was messing around. I went to my xfnitity email account on my computer. Went to the email settings. Then to Security. I then enabled the Third Party Access Security. I went back to the email app. Entered in my password first. Then my email address. Everything synced back up and worked. Give it a try.

I've been dealing with Comcast for two days on this issue.  Escalated and escalated.  But I did use the above technique.  I removed the account, then clicked add account.   I typed the password FIRST then typed the user name (my email address), and bingo the account was re-added and all's working well again.

@StingSF omg thank you.  This was the first actual response that worked for me.   I have been trying for the last 3 days to get my email back on my S24+. This actually worked I just had to put the password in first. Thanks!

Just upgraded to s24 ultra and was having the same issues setting up my email in the Samsung app. Here is what worked for me. Deleted the data and Cache in the Samsung email cache. Uninstall the xfinity app. Went online on the Comcast email setting and turned off 2 step verification and made sure 3rd party was checked. Now I can log in and use the Samsung app for my Comcast email. I tried multiple combinations with no luck, but when I un-installed the xfinity app is when it worked. Hope that helps. I don't use the xfinity app much do I don't think I will reinstall it for now.

Well, my other android devices are able to continue receiving Xfinity emails. But when I try to add the account to the Samsung email app, as soon as I get to the point of selecting imap, I am taken tovwhat looks like a non- functioning Xfinity sign in page with links to policies, and a "let's go" that is a dead link. No way to sign on. i open and sign on to my Xfinity app, but that does nothing to let the account installation go forward.

Using the Xfinity online interface is not a good substitute.
