Cannot reply to emails now

I have no idea what caused this to happen, but randomly a couple hours ago my email account stopped being able to respond to emails on my computer. When I click reply, it just hangs at the loading screen for several minutes and then says "The connection to remote server imap-central.ge.xfinity.com timed out while awaiting the response. Please try again later." and exits out. I need to be able to respond to emails for work and this is incredibly frustrating to be happening right now. I have never had this happen before, and even sent some emails out earlier today before it started doing this. I can reply to them on my phone but it takes way longer and I have attachments on my computer that I need to send.

So I cleared my cache and my cookies and now my emails won't even load at all. When I go to my email it just loads for like 5 minutes and then gives me an error message. This is really really annoying because I need to get into this email.

@alex898 Similar issue here.  map.comcast.net is not responding via iPhone email.  Also the web interface is timing out and not loading email. They must be having some sort of outage they are not posting.

I have the same issue with a slightly different error...

Error

The connection to remote server imap- east.ge.xfinity.com was refused or timed out while attempting to connect. Please try again later.  This has been intermittent for the past 24 hours. No fixes hasve worked from the usual clearing cache to erasing email account and reinstalling it.

@user_898721

Can you clarify------are you using only the webmail interface?  Or are you using a client like Outlook or Thunderbird?  Maybe a mail app on your phone?

@user_898721 I get this issue on both webmail and Thunderbird client. Seems like server may be down.

Now error comes up as

The provided login data to access mail server imap.comcast.net seem to be wrong. Please correct them.

I've experienced all of the above since late this morning. Sometimes I get in, most times I don't.

I'm using webmail only, on both my laptop and phone...no 3rd party apps.

If you are using only  the webmail, I don't know how its possible to be getting error messages listing problems with IMAP or SMTP servers, since webmail doesn't use either protocol.  Are you certain you don't have the account enabled someplace in some kind of client or app?  Maybe the mail fetcher in Comcast email?  Or in a Gmail account?

@Latoque I am on Firefox, logged into Comcast email via my home Xfinity wifi. I am not the person to whom you've been speaking, but am having the same problem.

Message says:

The connection to remote server imap-east.ge.xfinity.com was refused or timed out while attempting to connect. Please try again later.

Not sure what to tell you, Latoque. I don't even have an email app on my phone and never have. And this is one of the errors I'm getting:

The connection to remote server imap- east.ge.xfinity.com was refused or timed out while attempting to connect. Please try again later.

Improper use of language for me. I open my xfinity account and click on email normally. Today, there are issues interacting with inbox and email address (2 for home).

Comcast's email seems to be down at this time. Desktop/Mobile apps will not authenticate with the servers. Logging in via the web site brings up a message that it cannot connect to the server and displays an empty Inbox folder.

It seems Comcast is having one of their yearly or twice yearly email kerfuffles. It's not just mobile and through a browser on a PC. It's also with a third-party email client on a Windows PC. It's been happening off and on all day today for me, in MD. It could be impact from the increase in traffic due to schools starting up again and businesses ramping up again now that summer is over.

Related - I use Comcast web mail via browser to check the spam folder. A few days ago I found several legitimate emails had been routed to the spam folder a few days before that should have gone to the inbox. These were all messages that have been getting through to the inbox without problems up till then. You may want to take a look at your spam folder . . .

@ggeinec

I have found the same thing about legitimate emails going into spam that I have had no problems with up until about 4 days ago.  I can't get them to come in the inbox.

This happens way too often, it is terrible service. I do not understand why a company as big as comcast can not provide reliable service for what they charge.
