SCAMMED our of our device and Comcast doesn't give a rip about it

We had never heard of this scam until it happened to us. As we were experiencing issues as we attempted to activate my husband's new iPhone 17Pro, we got a call from a representative from Comcast. The caller dialed from an Xfinity number (spoofed, cleearly we see now after researching), saying that they'd sent us the wrong device and we needed to return it, and they'd ship the correct one to us. We obliged, sent via return UPS service the next day as directed, on10/2, and now, three weeks later we received a bill for the first month of service. After calling, they advised they never called to advise that the wrong phone had been sent to us, and they never have devices returned via UPS return service. My husband was on the phone for four hours today and was told definitively that Comcast will not do anything for us, and advised our only action is to close the account. In doing so, we will incur the full retail cost of the Iphone 17 Pro - about $1200.00.

Comcast has known about this scam *for years* according to all of the questions in the discussion thread, and does nothing to protect their customers. A shame, since the only way that this is happening is that there is a data leak that has been present for over a year and continues to be. I am eager to see when there will be a class action lawsuit!
