Hacked and now iphone email not working

My email was hacked and hacker had rerouted all email to their account.  I figured that all out, changed my password and got rid of the rerouting but I cannot get my email to work on my iphone.  It keeps saying the username and password is incorrect. I have entered username/password that work on my desktop but my iphone keeps saying its not right.  I guess hacker could have corrupted my iphone account somehow?  I have deleted and reentered multiple times.  I have also restarted iphone.

@spring162 You should delete the Xfinity email account you setup in the mail app, then re-add it. Go to Settings/Apps/Mail to delete.

@DreamSayerZ Ive done that multiple times.  Each time it says my User name or password is incorrect eventhough this is the same User name/password I use to access my xfinity email

@spring162 Are you able to go to https://connect.xfinity.com/ in a web browser and login to your email on your iPhone?

Hi there, thank you for reaching out, and we’re really glad to hear you were able to secure your account. That’s a huge first step.

What you’re running into on the iPhone is actually pretty common after something like this. Even though your password works on desktop, the phone can still be holding onto old or cached credentials, which causes it to keep rejecting the login.

Let’s try a few things to get this cleared up:

  • Go to your iPhone settings and remove the email account completely (Settings > Mail > Accounts > select the account > Delete Account)
  • Restart your iPhone after removing it
  • Add the account back manually instead of auto setup, and carefully re-enter your full email address and new password

If that still doesn’t work, it’s possible the account was temporarily locked or flagged after the suspicious activity. In that case, you may need to sign in through the webmail and look for any security alerts or prompts to fully restore access.

Also, double check that there are no leftover forwarding rules or filters still active, just to be safe.

You’re on the right track, this is usually just the phone needing a clean reset of the account after the changes. If it still won’t connect, let us know and we’ll keep working through it with you.
