APPLE WATCH SCAM
I went into a store location to setup a mobile line and during the setup the rep noted i was a platinum client and offered me a “free Apple Watch” I told him I didnt really use my current one but he said well its free why not take it, so i didnt stating id gift it if that was okay. He says no catch they’re completely free promo.
i added my mobile line, was handed the watch and left, a few months later i gifted the unopened watch. 2 months later i noticed reoccurring charges pop up. After hours on the phone i was told the watch was “free” via credits but ONLY if I the cellular was activated on my line and i paid ~12 monthly fee. That was never stated during my store interaction and the charges didnt kick off until i gifted it and the outside individual set it up 60+ days later.
Xfinity has stated im on the hook for 3 years or cellar (360+ dollars) or the 300 device fee for the “free phone”. I have seen many others with this issue and some having luck with formal FCC Complaints for fraudulent promos omitting the fine print and additional fee conditions. Looking to see what pathways those look to assist.
ive been a client for 10+ years but will be moving elsewhere asap
