Apple Watch Rewards Scam

Looks like I am one of many people who are being held hostage by Xfinity over their "free" Apple Watch scam. am 75, my husband is 79 and disabled. Our Internet and cable bill was going up $35/month. I called Xfinity to see about lowering my bill on 7/5/25. A rep named Marnes told me that I qualified for a promotion that would lower my bill $40 per month if I activated a "free Apple Watch" through Xfinity Rewards. Promised there were no hidden fees. I told her I didn't want the watch and didn't wear a watch, but she promised me this $40 per month savings. On 7/6, she called me and had me log into my Xfinity account on my desktop computer to redeem the "free" watch. She told me to call Xfinity back after the watch arrived and I activated it, and then I would get the discount. The watch arrived on 7/10/25, I activated it in good faith. My first indication that something was wrong was that I had to activate a new line for this watch on my mobile account for $10+tax a month ($12.49). I called Xfinity and spoke with a rep named Arcene who told me that no $40 per month discount existed. I told him I wanted to return the watch. He transferred me to Xfinity Mobile and I spoke with Pola who said he generated a FedEx return label and I would receive it via email within 30 minutes. It's 7/25/25 now and I am still waiting for the label. I've spoken and chatted with 4 other reps who all tell me to expect the label in 39 minutes. I went to the Xfinity store and was told I had to cancel the line before I could return the watch. The online reps tell me they cancelled the line, but the monthly fee is still being charged. They also tell me that the line will automatically be cancelled once I return the watch. I got an email reminder to return the watch. But I have no way to return the watch! This is a scam. It's happening to a lot of people, many are senior citizens. I have contacted the FTC, my local news consumer reports bureau, my credit card company, and my attorney. All I want is to return the watch and have the extra line and fees cancelled.

This is currently happening to me as well. I had my lines on the 10GB shared plan, I contacted support to upgrade 2 lines to unlimited for vacation. They instead changed all 7 lines to unlimited, then when I tried to put them all back to the shared GB plan, it wouldn't allow me to do so online. I had to do a chat and 45 minutes later I was given my "free" apple watch and told my lines had been switched back to the shared data. Low and behold another week goes by, my lines still show as unlimited and I had to do another chat to get them switched. I'm still waiting for the switch to show so I have no idea if it was actually done yet and I now have a watch that I don't want or need and my so called huge promotion doesn't exist because they are a bunch of liars! In the same week I had to deal with them for our business account to close it and they refused to provide a list of gear that we needed to return so our tech team opened a case with the FCC against Xfinity. I am about to report them to the attorney general's office.
