The Xfinity Home Online Portal is going away
Just got an email that effective March 11th the online portal is going away. Just one more instance where Xfinity is removing features and not getting anything back in the process. They state that we can do everything on the app that we can do on the portal but this isn't the case. The only way to view 24 hour access to the cameras that we pay for is through the portal. On the app we can only see the events where motion is detected. When is Xfinity going to actually add features instead of removing them? If it wasn't for the hassle of having to switch to another provider, I would be out of here, and might change anyway.

If you're within the 30 days you can cancel. The other option would be a tablet with the Home app installed on it.

Long time customer here and I like many others when we are at work are not aloud to have cell phones. Computers with internet are all most of us can use that are in a security envirnment. Xfinity needs to make this right.

[Edited for violating forum guidelines] removed my ability to view my home from my computer. We are working from home and using computer to conduct business and it was nice to view the camera and other device while working on the computer. Change it back!

Xfinity Home Security is no longer viewable/adjustable on my desktop Windows PC. I'm 75. Not everyone has a smartphone you know. And not everyone can see the programs on Android as well. You have removed accessibility for some of your customers. Do you even know how many PC-only users you have? This makes the system MUCH less useful to snowbirds and those who vacation who prefer the larger picture. When we get home next month, we will be switching to a different home security program that respects customers and is available for use on a Windows PC. I have stronger words, but I'm way too polite!

Terrible move on Comcast's part. Talked to several friends who also have Comcast and none happy with this. Not everyone wants to look at the cameras they are paying for on their cell phone! Reinstate it now Comcast!

I find Xfinity's decision to take away Xfinity Home Online portal outrageous. They are weakening my home security. Example: I travel a lot for work and i would be able to monitor my home during a 3 or 5 hour flight across the country as I could access inflight internet. "CELL PHONE" service is not available Xfinity! Seriously....what are they thinking! With the internet I could monitor my home and and any events occurring from 30K feet. Further, while working from home in my basement, I may be on my cell phone conducting a call but I still want to have a monitor displaying the front yard, front door, backyard whatever.... I could watch and see what was happening while my "CELL PHONE" was in use. What if you are traveling internationally or in a remote location or any location that does not have "CELL SERVICE", this is a big safety issue.

OK, I get it, everything is being consolidated into the Xfinity App. It would be nice if Xfinity would release an iPad version of the Xfinity app.

Because my modem is in bridge mode, I can not view my 24/7 recording with the xfinity app. Unless I’m missing something.

Add me to the list of unhappy customers! So now, I can't look at my home security through my laptop? Add this to the fact that my lousy cameras have only worked 50% of the time. Can't wait for August, 2021 when I can get rid of this system. Since you have made your home security system incompatible with your internet, there is no reason to keep it. And why does this forum page take me out of my already signed in page?

It will not be long before the iPhone & iPad apps will run native on your Mac, I suspect in the 2021 releases of HW & SW. So this issue goes away, at least if you are an Apple ecosystem person.
I get Comcast focussing on the most used interface - phone and tablets, that can use either cellular or wifi.
However, I would like a native iPad version (rather than using an iPhone version on the iPad). And I would like all the "old rules" to be ported to the App, my old rules still work but I cannot edit them or add new ones now.

user1724 -
Very good points. Another example of is the use of Chromebooks in the Android ecosystem... these are becoming more and more popular. I have the Xfinity Home app running on a Chromebook, and also have a free Android emulator running on my main Windows 10 PC which I regularly use to access the XH app.
Quick side note - Chromebooks and Android emulators aren't (yet) officially supported, so make sure it's not your primary means of using the service, especially for security features.
Agreed on the old rules - I have a number of them myself and am looking forward to future rules enhancements that will allow me to recreate and build upon them.
I know we have been in a "coming soon" phase with rules for a bit longer than anticipated (COVID and needing to shift resources / business priorities was part of that), but rest assured we will continue to innovate Xfinity Home - rules included! As an example, an update which is in the process of being rolled out is the ability to control Zigbee Locks directly from the Touchscreen, as well as to set your default Home Screen to a view of not just one, but all of your cameras.

It is also smaller on my phone than on my pc and i too am unable to go back and time frame events now im told i cant get out of my contract to find other services. THey can take something away but that doesnt break the contact. i would not have gotten this if i had known this was going to happen

Why on earth would you feel like this is acceptable? You are trying to force-feed too many things on your loyal customers without any kind of logical explanation to us. Not everyone uses their cell phone for everything in the world, and your phone app does not allow the same features that the portal did. You continue to make changes by taking away things that we are already paying for and that is wrong. I have been a comcast customer for over 20 years, but enough is enough. Taking my home security elsewhere! You may have us trapped with internet and cable service in my area due to no competitive options available to me, but there are soooooo many home security options out there for us! Bye!!!!!
