Older Xfinity security system with new cameras

I have been at our current home for 7 years and have had Xfinity security all this time.  I don’t believe the touchscreen has been replaced since we got it.  I have since added the latest Xfinity cameras and connected these to my home network.  I can see them fine on my Xfinity app on my phone, but I cannot see any video on the touchscreen.  When the system was first installed, they also installed a Netgear router which I guess is for the touchscreen.  I have no idea how to access this router.  Two questions - do I really need this netgear router and how can I connect the touchscreen to my home network.  One additional question - has there been any new or upgraded touchscreens?  Thanks in advance.
