home security adapter replacement

I recently received my Xfinity home security box replacement adapter for 4G.  However, there is a screw at the top of the new adapter (I guess to help secure the adapter since it's much bigger - and now sideways), and none of my outlets are equipped to handle this screw.  There was no explanation in the instructions or the email I received announcing the change.  The only screws in ALL my wall outlets are the two screws, one on each side of the outlet plate, to hold the plate to the wall!  I also read on this forum that Xfinity advised to place the adapter in the bottom outlet.  All my outlets are sideways!  And then, they say that "equipment" to install the adapter is provided; but the screw in the adapter is flat head, and the screwdriver provided with the adapter is Phillips head!  Yes, I have a flat head screwdriver that I used to remove the screw, but there should have been a better explanation of the adapter and how to install.  Plus, my security box is black and the new adapter is huge and white!  I could pay for a new box (which I assume is white) but then I have to have Xfinity service reset everything!    Why couldn't they offer an option for a black adapter so it least it matches the box?  So, no question here; just a little frustrated with all this!
