Xfinity/Target 50% Discount

I’ve been receiving phone calls regarding a 50% discount on my Xfinity account for months.  I decided to answer the latest call from [Edited: "Personal Information"]; it had me call [Edited: "Personal Information"].  A person with a foreign accent answered (since Xfinity uses foreign people for customer service, I wasn’t to suspicious at first) offered no contract 3 years guarantee discount.  The message and music while being on hold made it seem like I was speaking with Xfinity.  They knew my phone number.  It sounded like a scam when they said Target was subsidizing this discount and I would need to pay the first 6 months with either a Target credit card or gift cards upfront.  It tried to dissuade me from opening a Target card because Target credit card has a $100 annual fee (that’s a lie).   Unfortunately, I gave them my zip code, which they can associate with my phone number.  Anyway, I told them I’ll call back after I get the Target credit card, which I’m not.

Hello @user_76618a We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us today and thanks for spreading awareness for this issue. Since they were asking for a Target Gift Card, this was a scam as we would never ask for that method of payment. We also do not off 50% off discounts though I'd be happy to explore plan options with you if you'd like. I would also suggest reporting this to the FTC. This link explains more about common phone scams and how to report them. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/protect-yourself-phone-scams Please let us know if you need help with anything else. We are always here.

If you have gotten a call claiming to be from Comcast asking you to buy gift cards or paying upfront for six months or more in exchange for 50% off your bill the FTC is well aware of this scam.  If you get a call like this you can report it to     https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
Please help to stop the spread of this kind of fraud.
Thanks!
