Xfinity forcing modem owners to use their Modems

Got an email from Xfinity telling me that I needed service and a technician would need access to my home.  Scheduled service.  1 hour before the technician was to come, he called me and asked me what the issue was.  I told him I didn't know because the system flagged me as needing service.

He told me that Xfinity was creating issues with my modem (which is on the list of approved modems) in order for them to convince me to use their modem.  He suggested that after I got their modem my issues would be resolved.  The issue is that Xfinity corrupts my internet forcing me to reboot daily.  He continued it was to get me to pay and extra $15 a month for the rental modem.

I am not surprised of this tactic and am disappointed with Xfinity.

Please turn off whatever "program" you are running to cause my internet to fail as my Modem is 100% Functional and not needing to be replaced.

Happy Friday DanoL1011, and thanks for joining us in our community 🙌 I'm sorry to hear about any recent service issues you were having, and for the way in which the issues were communicated to you by our technician. While we do always love to promote using our Xfinity modems for your internet service as they are specifically designed to be optimized with our connections, I can assure you that in no way does Xfinity disparage or intentionally lesser the quality of your service based on the equipment you're using. As long as your modem is on the approved list we provide, that is completely at your discretion, and we are indifferent on the matter.

That said, it does not mean that your connection wouldn't improve by switching over to an Xfinity modem purely by proxy of being optimized for our internet and our internet alone. On our current internet plans, renting a modem from us comes in at $0 a month the same way using your own modem would, along with unlimited data at no cost on top of that. If that changes your willing to get setup with one, we'd be happy to help!
