Xfinity assistant asked for SSN AND DOB

An xfinity assistant asked linked me a website and it asked for my SSN AND DOB IS THIS NORMAL OR FRAUD? PLEASE HELP!

Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate you alerting us and bringing it to our attention. There are times when we may request sensitive info. For example, we may need this information if you are shopping for Mobile offers. We do have a tool called iGuard, which allows you to enter your secure data, which is linked to our system. This method is implemented so you don't have to provide sensitive data within that chat to the agent. You can enter data into iGuard. iGuard will capture your info and send an alert to the agent once it is done. On our side, we don't see any of your info, which makes this a great method. We can only see once you completed the process. If you feel more comfortable, you could call Xfinity Mobile directly.

Well after I entered the info the chat window went blank.  I called Xfinity, spoke with a nice guy out of Boston and he told me there was no such bundle on offer and I probably got scammed.  From being logged into my xfinity account, asking a question about my bill, using the chat bot.  I'll add that the most frustrating part is that you HAVE to go to chat 1st or call and get sent to a chat. We're expected to trust you thru trusted channels and end up scammed.
