Xfi gateway fan is loud

My xfi gateway fan just got very loud.  I need a replacement gateway

Hello @user_1df198 and thank you for your post about your fan being loud on your gateway. I would be reaching out if I noticed my fan become loud too! We are happy to help you. 

Did you notice any change in your service or just that your modem was making loud sounds?

The service is still working well but the fan is really loud

Glad to hear that your service is still working. Let's see about getting you an exchange. Please send us your full name along with your complete address in a direct message. Here are the steps to send us a message:

"Search for Xfinity Support" won't work. To send a "Direct Messaging" message to Xfinity Support:



  • Click "Sign In" if necessary





  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon



  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there



  •  - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list



  •  - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line



  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window



  • Press Enter to send it

@XfinityPeterH​ I am having the same issue all of a sudden. Works fine but the fan is so loud I hear it over the tv, it’s very distracting.

I'm having same issues with my gateway modem fan constantly running. I will definitely have to exchange it out but is it safe for it to be running like this for a day or so until I can get into the xfinity store?
