XB10

I’m considering getting an Arris G54 and stopping leasing the XB8 device we have (no XB10 here yet and tired of waiting). We are Xfinity Internet/Mobile only; we are Diamond Rewards members. Will I lose any of the Comcast-provided content and/or features I’m used to?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hey @scran4d, Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. You should be perfectly fine using the Arris G54 modem in lieu of the Xfinity xFi Gateway. The Arris G54 is able to work on our sub-split and mid-split networks and work no differently than our XB8 Xfinity xFi Gateway.

With using a personally owned device, our assistance with troubleshooting is limited where we are able to provide more assistance and troubleshooting while using the Xfinity xFi Gateway. We recommend visiting our 'Benefits of renting an Xfinity Gateway' and 'Using approved third-party equipment with Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice' support pages to help find and make the best decision for your home.

Will it also support the X-class features when they come to my area?

It will not as it is not a DOCSIS 4.0 device. If you are not currently within an FDX/DOCSIS 4.0 network area, it can take quite some time to receive those network upgrades. We do not have roadmaps or estimated time frames on when those enhancements will take place. There are also no supported customer owned modems that can take advantage of those speeds outside our XB10 and XD4+XB8 gateway configurations. @scran4d
