Will the 1st generation XE1-S wifi pod connect to my XB8 gateway?

Will the 1st generation XE1-S wifi pod connect to my XB8 gateway? If I purchased from a previous xfinity customer can I still activate them?

user_066864. Thanks for reaching out! First-generation xFi Pods are compatible with Xfinity gateways, including the XB8. However, since they're an older model, they may not deliver the same performance as newer xFi Pods and, in some cases, may not function as expected. If there are problems with activation or if the Extender is not functioning properly, it may be necessary to replace the pod due to security certificate issues. If you're considering purchasing pods from another customer, activation may be possible, provided they're no longer associated with a different account and are available for onboarding. I'd recommend trying to activate them through the Xfinity app before purchasing, if possible. That said, for the best experience and performance, I'd recommend considering our latest Wi-Fi Boost Pods. You can learn more and purchase them here: HERE

We would be happy to help with troubleshooting. Can you clarify what you mean without the gateway?

If I am not at home with my router how do I activate the pod with my phone using the app? Doesn’t it have to be connected to my WiFi?

That is a great question, @user_066864! You would need to be on your home Wi-Fi network to connect and activate a Wi-Fi pod. Ideally, you would want to plug it in while you are in the same room as your gateway, even if you plan to move it to another location once it has been activated. As far as the Xfinity app is concerned, you would just need to log in with your primary user profile and go to the "Account" tab on the bottom-right, then select "Activate Wi-Fi and More" > "Set up equipment or devices" > "Wi-Fi Extenders" > "Gen 1 Pod" (top picture with one Ethernet port). After that, the app will walk you through everything else.

The concern is not "accessibility / disability" help related............ Topic moved here to the proper help section.
