Will removing a premium channel affect any promotional rates

I'm thinking about dropping Showtime and want to make sure that will not have any effect on anything else in my plan. It seems like it should not make a difference, but I had to deal with a situation where getting a replacement for a defective X1 box was treated as a change in my plan and I lost the existing promos and significantly increased my monthly plan. I may be overly cautious but I want to make sure I won't have to deal with another fiasco like the last one.
