Why is a live chat person asking me for my SS?

OK this has to be a scam as I have had these issues before.

In live chat Surender told me about a 20$ off my internet bill promotion.

Great that happened.

The he asked if I wanted a FREE apple watch. I said yes only if it is free.

He then asked for my SS and birth date. I asked again if the watch is free.

The found out it is 40$ in taxes and 10/month to be online.

He then sent a "secure" url for my SS and Sdate.

I said no thanks.

In the last few years I have had scammers reach me vis the Xfinity chat.

They were able to "pay" my bill without any information from me. 

They already had access to my account and tried to get me to 

pay 300 upfront for free access for a year. hahah no deal

I called and talked to xfinity and they told me they NEVER ask for SS.

So I called today and was told this is not a scam and they must have my SS

to verify who I am.

No no no I will not do this. Xfinity is out of their [Edited: "Language"] minds for asking for

this info.

Shame on Xfinity for allowing this nonsense!
