Why has Xfinity hijacked my TV after I activate a screensaver?

This is insane I want my televisions back I want the ability to turn them off when I want or put them on the sleep timer.  You people have hijacked that luxury from me with zero warning you just find out all of a sudden I'm having night terrors and the room is black. They aren't your televisions. I want control of my TV's back I have PTSD and I sleep with them on! This is criminal If not I'm taking my business elsewhere! Plus I have to pay for my favorite channels which is HLN and ID Discovery I haven't been able to watch those in 3 years because you guys are greedy. That used to be part of a package It was free. I'm going to switch and so will the rest of my family! We all live in separate houses and we're sick of it. My power button is not yours!  You need to give a warning before you activate service for anybody otherwise people do not go to Xfinity because they'll take control of your TV if you mess around with the screensaver on it. With zero warning and if you have mobility issues they don't care.

We would recommend going here (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-screen-saver), you can prolong the screensaver for up to 5-hours, however, there is no way to disable it completely. We appreciate your feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve and personalize our customer's experience. We will be happy to forward your feedback to our team.

To forward me to another page does me no good and to tell me that there is no way to disable it makes me even more upset. You guys enabled it right? Then disable it. This is not right you guys need to tell people before they even sign up for Xfinity that if they play with their screensaver on their own private TVs in their own private homes that you guys will take over and that they will no longer have the ability to power off your own TV You will lose that luxury.  Make sure you tell that to people that have MS ALS and any type of mobility problems! You need to warn people first. If I would have known this I would have never signed up for Xfinity not only do you guys charge first my favorite channels that I've not been able to watch for 3 years You also control my TV because I decide to see what my screensaver on my Smart TV does and boom! No warning no nothing just you guys having control of my off button. I don't care if I can extend it for another 30 hours! I want the off button to be my control because I have PTSD my TV turns off and I have slept horribly since you guys have done this but you all don't care. That's clear. You can enable it you can disable it. I'm going to cancel all of my service with you people. You don't care. Nobody does. Which makes you a horrible business. Xfinity I don't trust you anymore.

@denverblondy we appreciate your feedback and sad to hear about your experience. You still have the ability to power off your TV and can set a sleep timer on your personal TV. We don't control that. We only control the Xfinity equipment but yes it is true that we are not able to disable to screensaver setting only modify the time it is set to. "Search for Xfinity Support" won't work. To send a "Direct Messaging" message to Xfinity Support:


 • Click "Sign In" if necessary


 • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging


 • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon


 • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there


 •  - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list


 •  - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line


 • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window


 • Press Enter to send it

@XfinityBenjaminM​ I want control of my television back the way that it was before I played with my screensaver on my personal Smart TV with the remote that goes with the TV I want that back It is not cool that you guys did this cuz now I can't find my remote control anywhere and the damn thing turns off and I'm trying to watch the Olympics man you guys suck so bad not you personally dude You've been pretty cool but good God like why do you guys do this to people? This is bunk. There has to be a way to do something about that cuz you guys sure as heck knew how to take control of it but then when I want that back and there's no warning about this there's just excuses it's bunk Then all of a sudden well you can extend it 5 hours no I want full control of my television back and what do I do now that I can't find my remote anywhere and it's on the damn screensaver thing and I can't do anything This is ridiculous I'm so ticked off I'm molting. Bunk and it's bunk that you guys charge for HLN and ID Discovery those were my favorite channels and then when I turned my cable back on a few years later I have to pay for that which I don't and now this come on I want control of my TV back or I'm going to contact Tom Martino Kyle Clark Paula Woodward who's a personal friend of mine and anybody else I can think of cuz this is not right to do this so what do I do now? How do I work my TV with your screensaver that is hijacked my TV when I can't find my remote? Now what do I do or are you going to give me credit? Something I want my control back I want to be able to turn this off when I want to You guys need to warn people

I agree this new "feature" is absolutely infuriating. Xfinity, restore the ability to disable the screensaver PERMANENTLY. If you'd ever cared for a somebody with dementia, you'd understand why an automated screensaver can cause horrible anxiety. MAKE IT STOP.
