Why can't I or people with mobility issues deactivate a screensaver in the year 2023 Xfinity?
I've seen this question in this exact same website and it was years ago and you get some lame answer under it saying we're working on it well that was years ago. I want to have full control of my television and that means having the option to turn off my screensaver! To take that power away from people is unbelievable and there should be a warning before people do this! A big huge warning because I have night terrors and I like my TV on all night but recently? I wake up every 5 hours when I don't need to! Or if I have a nightmare it's horrific because you guys turn it off! It's my Smart TV and I pay plenty and I don't even get all the channels I used to there's no HLN there's no ID discovery because you got to pay even more for something that used to be included with cable, robbery It's the year 2023. I would like a legitimate answer and not a dog ate my homework answer or excuse or we're working on that only to find the same problem in 2028. I want a real answer please with a real deadline. I'm not the only one. I've seen people in here that have commented about having mobility issues and I have a friend that has ALS And on behalf of this person and anyone else that has mobility issues that's being affected by this? I feel I need to take a stand behind all of them. It's disheartening to see people with mobility issues struggle with this only to have this unanswered and not taken care of. What's going to happen? Lawsuit. That's what you guys are going to have. Not from me but from somebody that deserves to get one and deserve some money from you guys. This is a good website but your customer service on here is neglecting, not caring about people with mobility problems, and lacking any change or any explanation. When you lose control of your body your dignity is so important to you everything counts everything! So to take something away from someone that is struggling? That's inhumane and it hurts my heart. Come on people, show compassion and do something. An apology written to all of the people that have been affected by this should also be written. And a big fat credit. But nothing can replace your dignity. Thank you Xfinity I really hope you change this I have faith that you can and you will soon. Your auntie m in Denver

Hello @denverblondy. Thank you very much for taking the time to share this feedback. We truly appreciate it. Making sure that every member of the Xfinity family has the best user experience is always a top priority. Being that we currently do not have the options to disable the screensaver, it does offer some great customization. I move it up to 5 hours one of my boxes. Below is a great link that breaks down all the options for adjusting the preferences. I do apologize, we do not currently have plans of adding the option to disable.

I've found complaints about this going years back, but with no satisfactory reply from Comcast. I suspect the majority of TV watchers switch channels through the day and so don't notice the screensaver function. Were it more widely known, there might well be a flood of additional complaints.
ThomasB's reply was the best he could manage with the hand he was dealt (justifying Comcast's policies), but the ability to customize a completely unwanted "feature" is not helpful. The complainants already know about the 5-hour setting.
The so-called "screensaver" does not save power and, by replacing a moving image with a static one, increases the risk of burn-in with OLED sets--not what a screensaver used to do!
The only thing this does is turn a television set into a Comcast billboard. On the occasions when I've failed to intercept it, the "screensaver" shows either the weather and a purty picture or an advertisement for some PPV program. I'm already paying much too much for 24/7 cable services. If Comcast wants to use my set as a billboard, we can discuss rental fees.
I've already posted a laundry list of complaints about the X1 system (slow lane tiling rather than text for "On Demand," unsortable favorites lists, etc.). The logic behind the legacy things Comcast deleted and the "features" it added escapes me.
X1 has been around for a few years now, though it's only in the past few months that people have been forced to switch to it. It's time for Comcast to rethink the logic and come out with a major revision.
