Violations and security concerns on property with no communication

Yesterday, someone came to my door identifying himself as an Xfinity contractor. He had no documentation, work order, or proof of identity, yet told me he needed access to my property to perform maintenance on equipment attached to my home.

I was overwhelmed and bewildered by the situation. He was difficult to deal with and insisted that he only needed to replace a part on the box located on my property. I repeatedly questioned why I had not been notified that work needed to be performed on my property and how someone could simply show up unannounced. He maintained that he had no information other than the work he was instructed to do and repeatedly told me to let him do it.

He made it clear that he was going to complete the work regardless of my concerns. As a result, I still have no idea what was actually done or whether my property’s security or access was affected in any way.

I called Xfinity, and the representative had no information about the visit. I was told someone would call me back that afternoon, but—unsurprisingly—I never received a call.

What kind of company operates this way? What kind of respect do you have for your customers? Sending someone onto a customer’s property without prior notification, without identification, and without any documentation explaining the work is completely unacceptable. This is a serious violation of my sense of safety and security on my own property.

How dare you send a contractor—if that’s who he actually was—to access equipment attached to my home without notifying me in advance or providing any way to verify his identity or the purpose of his visit?

This is a new low, even for Xfinity.

Hey @user_0ca7c1 , Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the contractor that showed up for maintenance work. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you. When you are referring to the equipment is it a small box attached to your home or in a place on your property such as the yard or close to the house?
