Utility box and power installed on property?
A large utility installation was placed today in the public right-of-way directly in front of my home at [Edited - Private Information], and I’m trying to determine whether this is Xfinity/Comcast equipment.
The installation includes a large Alpha outdoor broadband power cabinet, along with a new electrical meter/disconnect assembly. Based on the equipment, it appears that it may be related to cable/broadband infrastructure rather than simply West Penn Power equipment.
I purchased this home on May 1, 2026, and received no advance information about the installation. The structure is substantial, approximately 5–6 feet tall, and is now very prominent in front of the property.
I understand from the City of Greensburg that the location is within the public right-of-way, so I am not disputing the right to maintain necessary infrastructure. I am hoping an Xfinity representative can help me determine:
- Whether this equipment belongs to Comcast/Xfinity
- Whether this is the final, permanent configuration
- What project or construction work it is associated with
- Whether the placement can be reviewed by the local construction/outside-plant team
- Whether relocation, repositioning, rotation, or appropriate screening could be considered to reduce the impact on the residence
I have photos of the installation and would be happy to provide them privately to an Xfinity representative.
Could someone from outside plant, construction, network maintenance, or the local engineering team please help me get this routed to the appropriate department?
Thank you.
