Using unreturned equipment

If xfinity charges a fee if I don't return my equipment (when I close my account), then does that mean that the equipment is now mine and I can use it as a "bring your own device", and use it on the xfinity network, on another account (i.e. sell/give it to someone that uses xfinity)?

In other words, what happens if unreturned equipment is used on the network?  Can the new owner of the equipment register the mac address, etc?  Theoretically the equipment has been "bought" / "sold" via the fee, so...  what is the policy on this?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hi Jorge.  Not sure why this was routed to you but the question is not "how do I get my refund" but rather "what is your policy".  So, I ask again, what is your policy on this?  Please post to the forum so all can see, instead of me directly/privately.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for clarifying that for us as far as the information, user_4_2! If the device is not returned, there is a temporary charge placed on the account, but once we receive the equipment back, the charge would be reversed onto the account. The equipment would not be able to be used on another account as it locked/removed from being added onto accounts. We do not sell our equipment, and require per the customer agreements that Comcast/Xfinity equipment is returned within 7-10 business days. Please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns.

But what about home security equipment, including cameras?
